    Hello,

    I'm planning to purchase a laptop with this spec for $850

    INTEL T2400 1.83GHz CORE DUO PROCESSOR
    * 1 GB RAM @ 533MHz
    * 120 GB HARD DRIVE
    * 15.4" WIDESCREEN XGA DISPLAY TRUE LIFE
    * 64 MB VIDEO RAM
    * ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1300 VIDEO CONTROLLER

    How would Counter Strike source run on this? Upgrading to 2gb ram help or make a noticeable difference in the gameplay and the overall speed of the laptop?

    Thank you

    I did not notice a difference when going from 1gb to 2gb on my laptop (which has X1300). Probably for the reason that I was playing on low settings so the system was not having to cope with large texture files.

    You should be able to run at 1280x800, albeit on low detail.

    For example of other games, I am playing
    FEAR @ 1024x600 low detail
    Quake 4/Doom 3 800x600 Low Detail
    Star Wars Empire at War : 1280x800 Medium Detail
    CoD2 1024x600 DX7 mode
    Sims 2 1280x800 Medium Detail

    Hope that helps somewhat.

    By the specs you listed I'm assuming you are getting a Dell?

    If so, I really do suggest you upgrade to the X1400. It is a much more preferable solution to the X1300, and power consumption is much the same.

    Source is super efficent. You should be able to run it quite well even on an X1300.
