    S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky System Requirements Published

    GSC Game World has published the minimum and recommended system requirements for STALKER: Clear Sky.

    MINIMAL

    * Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000(SP4)/XP/Vista (SP1)
    * Intel Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz / AMD XP 2200+
    * 512 MB RAM
    * 10 GB free hard disc space
    * 128 MB DirectX(R) 8.0 compatible card / nVIDIA(R) GeForce(tm) 5700 / ATI Radeon(R) 9600
    * Keyboard, Mouse
    * LAN / Internet for Multiplayer

    RECOMMENDED

    * Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP/Vista (SP1)
    * Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 / AMD 64 X2 4200+
    * 1.5 GB RAM
    * 10 GB free hard disc space
    * 256 MB DirectX(R) 9.0c compatible card / nVIDIA(R) GeForce(tm) 8800 GT / ATI Radeon(R) HD 2900 XT
    * Keyboard, Mouse
    * LAN / Internet for Multiplayer

    Well.. it seems the requirements are just good, even the recommended requirement is quite good, since an 8800gt 256mb can be beat by high end Mobile Cards IMO since its a little limited card.

    Anyways, GSC was always honest with thier requirements, so if you meet them, you will play the game without any slowdowns at all!
    hmm i wonder how great is the game going to be..

    Looks like they kept the DirectX 8.0 rendering, which should allow almost any hardware to run. Sweet.

    as posted in the requirements, a 8800gt 256 will be enough even for DX10, which i suspect will have minimal visual impact because of better smoke and stuff like that, so FPS loss should be minimal

    ive seen video of the game, its not mind blowingly good looking like crysis warhead or far cry 2 so if they optimized it well, it should run on just about any decent graphics card

    It's not so much the best graphics ever the developers are pushing for, it's for immersing you in the Zone, and god damn Shadow Of Chernobyl had the best damn atmosphere ever, as good as if not better than Bioshock's, I was playing on medium at the time too!

    The wind, animal screams, gunshots in the background, trees and plants rustling in the wind, to anomalies activating and your Geiger counter going mental at times, to the worst of all "BLOODSUCKERS". This game was horrifying with what I heard about bloodsuckers, I was afraid of meeting them and I got lost and ended up in a village full of them :( I camped inside a building and pointed at the entrance..."shivers"! The game was still amazing fun, if not for frequent bugs and some features being cut out it would have been a masterpiece! :D

    Yeah that's correct, I don't mind it too much but their is a fantastic mod called Oblivion Lost, which adds a lot of features that didn't make it into the game, one of these being "VEHICLES!" :D so you don't have to run about everywhere which can be frustrating.

    I'd recommend you to go through the game unmodded first, and then try Oblivion Lost, because Oblivion lost can add tons of mutants and it can become very challenging!

    If only more new games are as scalable as Clear Sky. With separate code paths for DX8.1, DX9 and DX10, the flexibility is probably only beaten by the Source engine with DX7, DX8.0, DX8.1, and DX9 (with DX6 also available in the engine, but I don't believe officially support in the system requirements).

    Source looks pretty dated now, even in Very High! :|

    Whoever plays in DX7/DX8 need to get with the programme! :p

    Well the graphics is really good, it surely beats Crysis hands down in indoor areas where I think Crysis does not shine like it´s outdoor environments.

    Sounds like you guys never got immersed in the games atmosphere, that's what kept me in, then exploring underground labs etc was creepy as hell, but so much fun and rewarding.

    Oblivion Lost mod, I need to try it! D=

    I'm trying to be sympathetic to those who use those ugly cousins of GPUs, the Intel GMAs. Which is probably quite a few people. At least with a DX8.1 code path, the GMA X4500 and possibly the GMA X3100 have a pretty good chance of running Clear Sky acceptably. Obviously, the DX8.1 path won't look as good as the DX9 or DX10 paths, but at least they'll hopefully be able to play at a resolution better than 640x480 with a stable frame rate. And an Intel GMA being able to run a newly released game, particularly a first-person shooter, is probably a rarity.
