basically 10$ off of Call of Pripyat if you own Clear Sky or SoC in your steam account.
It's a pretty good deal.

Guess that works out well since I got the other stalker game when it was on sale for $2.00 lol.
Not sure if I want this game or not. -
pretty cool that they can do that. Now how about they do that with L4D2 or something, should've done that from the start, kind of like a bonus for L4D peoples.
-
done deal. I wonder if that's why I've had this "STALKER Ownership Check" item sitting on my Steam games list for ages.
-
-
A promo for L4D2 would mean that it's not a cashcow franchise, but it is, ergo...
Also, it's worth noting that Clear Sky is $9.99 on Steam, so anyone buying CoP via Steam, even if you do not own a previous STALKER, buying Clear Sky first essentially doubles your bang for you buck.
If Steam realizes this or why they haven't offered it as a package deal is beyond me. -
Stupid Steam deals. I end up spending more money on games that I either won't play or will in a year's time. But don't want to miss out on the deal. Although I'm sure Pripyat will be $20 within the next six months anyhow.

STALKER must be doing reasonably well though for them to make three games.

I was tickled pink when I saw this... It's $40 at Target, and was tempted to buy it there, but then it popped on Steam with the discount, that's awesome... Impressed they did this, and was an instant buy for that reason.
-
And FF13 coming up in a month... -
no, really I knew that much, I meant that it's cool they as in the Steam service can scan your library and see you've purchased a previous game and give you a discount, I just hadn't heard of that before.
I brought up L4D b/c there was a lot of complaints before releasing L4D2 about how it should've been at a discounted price etc. It would've been nice to get L4D2 at a cheaper price if we owned L4D already or something and this shows that it could've been done. But I can't really complain now, since the game has been discounted on Steam on two occasions now, Thanksgiving and Christmas sales at $33, even cheaper if you got in on a 4 pack group... -
I have just received two brand new copies of the first 2 Stalker series for the PC costing a total of £13 with free delivery. Looks like I won't be playing the new one any time soon.

(SoC) - huge improvement over already awesome game

Potential spoiler:
Tonight, after some artifact hunting I found the wheel artifact near the dredge. A stalker by the name of Tuna, comes along and pleads with me to give him the artifact as it posses healing properties for his dying friend. Turns out you find him back at Strovolsk selling said artifact for profit. You confront him and are given some options for an exchange of words - I chose something along the liens of "The zone is small place, our paths will cross again".
No sooner had I said this an emission came to pass. Once over, everyone filed outside, except Tuna and his crew managed to happen on some wandering bandits. I watched as they fought it out, neutral to both sides, and then Tuna and a bandit fell to each others bullets. Both were lying on the ground pleading for medkits... you can guess what I did next - gave the medkit to the Bandit, after which he proceeded to get up and pop the remaining caps into Tuna's .
I laughed uncontrollably and reveled in the sweet sweet justice. What's more it was completely UNscripted - a pure chance encountering! Upon reloading the savepoint it did not occur again!
What an amazing game, lol! -
So what sequence would you recommend following with this series? Clear Sky, Chernobyl, then Pripyat?
-
That order is best for storyline following -
I got pretty far with Chernobyl, never finished the game though, so this could exciting to stat with Clear Sky and actually finish through Chernobyl.
-
Gameplay wise, Chernobyl is the worst. No fast travel :/ What the heck... After you play Clear Sky, it's difficult to play Chernobyl lol And yes, I will be getting Pripyat when it hits $10. I have already bought tons of games.
-
@htwing
Actually, it's best to start playing Chernobyl first. That way, you will get the MOST out of the story. You will know what I'm talking aboutClear Sky only makes the story in Chernobyl a little clearer.
-
There's a reason they released Clear Sky second; it's a prequel, meaning it comes after Chernobyl but explains events prior to it. Best to play them in order of release, in my opinion. Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, Call of Pripyat.
-
Ok, thanks. Besides I want to play with the Stalker Complete mod anyhow
-
It's a matter of personal decision.
I however would still recommend playing Clear Sky first, then Chernobyl with Complete 2009 mod. -

Whats the complete mod do?
I still have not picked up this game, you can also get it as part of the THQ every game for $50 deal too I think. -
I finished Call of Pripyat and I have to say that the game ended AGAIN.....just before it was getting started, seriously once I got to Pripyat I did like 3-4 quests and the game was over!.....and I have just explored like 25 % of Pripyat...what the?????
-
I couldn't play Stalker Chernobyl, I almost fell asleep.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripyat for 19.99 if you already own CS or SoC in steam!
