Anyone else waiting![]()
I'm thinking of buying it from STEAM just because I hate key disks to pieces!
Cheers

Waiting... patiently... waiting...
-
Its out in Russia. They have collector's sets with 3 badges, both games, shirt, stickers, a coffee/vodka mug and all of this is in a big tin-box... grrrr
-
But regardless, I'm buying CS when it comes out -
this game is gonna be the essence of FPS... trust me
-
Sorry I had to -
whens it coming out
-
is it an expansion or just a game in itself?
-
I had my uncle pre-order it for me. Can't wait for the gadgets, and the multiplayer campaign.
-
Clear Sky's a standalone game, Yoyo.
Ohhhh man. I haven't even finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R. XD -
I am pondering getting it, I havent looked at whats added/fixed, but I wish the weight limit was upped, I am sure it isn't... Also more weapons and less ammo types.
I just reinstalled and played STALKER SOC in the last week, Time consuming I am tired, Hopefully this time when they release the first patch it wont corrupt your save file. That angered me beyond belief, so close to finishing, literally inside chernobyl, I install a patch and its back to the beginning... -
-
If you just target the main story, and during the battle at agroprom go into the tunnels and find strelok's stash right away, the game can be done in less than 6 hours
-
I've purchased Stalker:Clear Sky at Walmart last Saturday. I think they not supposed to sell it, because game premiere was delayed regarding issue with missing CD-Keys. Looks like somebody didn't get the message
Game running fine (30+fps) at 1440x900, Full Dynamic Lightning, Max. DX9 on GF 8800M GTS.
DX10, or Improved Full Lightning (DX9) cuts frame rate at half.

One of the few games this year that I'm really looking forward to.
-
Looks just like Stalker..
At least with HL2`s episodes, they added new stuff when released.
Oh well, I did not even finish Stalker SOC yet.. -
I have the other Stalker and I really don't see what you people like about this game. I gave it 3 chances and I can't get myself to keep playing it...It is so boring to me and I love first person shooters..

That said, I respect the developers lofty, if unrealized, goals and ambitions. -
The reviews are coming in and they are not too positive. Seems there's some serious design flaws again.
-
Because isn't: linear-run-jump-point-shut-do-over-again-fast-fingers-no-brain-involved FPS.
Because it's: blend-of-first-person-almost-survival-horror-action-role-playing-atmospheric-postcatastrophic-open-world with incredible AI and graphics.
That's why is for me best FPS (still is) since FarCry.
But you know, it's just a matter of taste -
i've been playing clear sky for few hours and i have to say that i'm very disappointed with it!, most of the claustrophobic atmosphere is gone!, the story is unintresting and the game is very frustrating and difficult overall! even though i managed to finish the first game!!, mutants/monsters are nowhere as common as they were in SOC and this kinda killed the atmosphere!...still too early to judge the faction-war system but anyway i'm disappointed with the game!!, it's nowhere as good as SOC which in my opinion is one of the best first person shooters ever made...
-
and the Graphics?... are they as the screenies?
-
Of wodka I presume?
That will only last about a day. You'll feel all hellish and eerie playing the day after though. -
Highest settings (Enhanced Dynamics Lightning DX9 or DX10) adding extra effects like:soft particles, volumetric lightning, steep parallax, dynamic water etc., but also drop performance drastically, specially in the morning when you see those sun rays shinning trough tree branches.
Couple screenshots (enhanced dynamic lightning DX9):

They didnt even bother to fix the silly reloading animations... I really dont know about this one anymore. Shouldnt the second try at least somewhat improve over the first raw attempt?
-
EDIT: Omg.. thats some Sh!t performance really... what are your specs?
EDIT2: i checked your machines specs online.. i think you should be getting better performance soon, since the game seems to have the same bug the old game had.. NO DUAL CORE SUPPORT -
The lack of dual core support, and the fact that the game runs worse than crysis is bad. I've played it, didn't get a chance to get into it yet. Most of the reviews I've read just seem like the game was too hard. Personally I think the first one was **** hard even on the easiest setting as well so this won't bother me. As I said, I've played it but didn't get much time on it, I was testing out the graphics settings and noticed that this game runs less than half the FPS on max than crysis maxed out in the same resolution. I think it may be possible to blame this on the lack of multi core support but who knows, they do need to fix it however.
One thing I didn't like when I first started it up was that all of the weapons I picked up were the exact same as ones in SOC, with minor tweaks to the recoil of them, such as.. shotguns are actually usable! For the 30 minutes or so I played it, it was pretty fun, just like the first one.
One thing I have to ask though, is what bugs are you guys talking about? aside from the fact that the game doesn't use more than one core, what is wrong with it? I beat the first stalker 6 times, got every weapon, been everywhere, and still do not understand what bugs everyone was critisizing it for.. What does this one have wrong with it (technical issues) AI seems great, they do the right things and make it challenging. -
the game is a masterpiece and everything.. but we need some more performance.. well it will get better thats for sure, the first one had this problem, then they fixed it.
anyways, there is a faction mod out there, it makes the game much more fun -

game still crashes:
Biggest problem for me, is with (once a while) strange acting AI in game.
Sometimes "soldiers" attack you without reason from very far distance (hard to seeing them even using binoculars), sometimes they just stand (no reaction whatsoever) waiting to be killed. Maybe next patch will fix it (should be available for download this weekend).

is this game worth playing through? i remember the first one and it was hard/frustrating for me ;p also, is it necessary to play the first one all the way through before playing this game?
thanks for any info -
well the game will be really worth it if you ask me, many many many mods will be out for it.
-
Is the multiplayer of clear sky any good? I love the singleplayer of the original stalker so I think I should love the singleplayer of clear sky too. Just never really tried the multiplayer...
-
Maksin if you get it please post some benchmarks. thanks
-
Has anyone got the game yet?
Is it playable on the 8600M GT? Thanks.... -
thats why i'm asking for benchmarks, i played the first one, it was good, but had some problems, so i dont want to buy this one and get similar performance issues.
-
It hasn't come out yet
-
it did in Europe, and many has already bought it and played it.
-
I was meaning US

I'm currently playing Clear Sky, and it's a fantastic game imo, the graphics are simply amazing, the god rays in the morning shining through abandoned buildings and trees with shadows casting upon everything will make your jaw drop, then...then it rains and omg :O BEST RAIN EFFECTS EVER IN A GAME I PROMISE YOU
Combat wise, I'm playing on Veteran and it's very tough, you need to find/upgrade your weapons to have a fighting chance with later enemies, as they are hella tough.
Atmosphere gone? what are you mad? the atmosphere is so much better, at night time you get that eerie ambience, then the daunting beat repeated every few seconds, walking through the swamps, you hear some bushes rustle, then a bloodsucker attacks you out of no where! :O
The mutants come in larger and I mean LARGER quantities later on in the game "near duty base", the amount of NPC's is staggering, I counted 35+ mid day in the duty base alone, all going about there own thing.
Bugs? yeah it has a few, the faction war needs a bit of tweaking, and it needs to be more stable as I get crashes from time to time. My only dissapointment is it's not using an awful lot of RAM for me and it doesn't support dual core, I was lucky not to go quad!
This is an extremely impressive title, to hell with the reviewers, they complain it's too hard? Hah it's not the games fault your too crap that you keep getting your *** handed to you by some really smart AI. Try this game out seriously! -
I did some Stalker:Clear Sky benchmarks (using Fraps) on my laptop: C2D 1.67GHz, 4GB RAM, GF 8800M GTS, Vista 32-bit, driver 177.92

I cannot find much info regarding the MP aspects of Clear Sky in either Reviews or from player comments. Is it any good?

ign gave it a 7.3

They shouldn't be allowed to do PC reviews, stick to the consoles where they'll get the most payoffs. -
they cant compain about freakin difficulty. anyways, i think there should be a boost in FPS very soon.ive notcied that people with Dualcores OCed to 4ghz pr something can run the game 60+FPS DX9 enhanced dynamic lighting with a desktop 8800gt, at a resolution of 1600x1200, which leads that the game is using Clockspeed, not cores.

Running DX9 at same settings can give 20-40%(most) performance increase in CS, but not 300%. -
I got it here in Canada on the 8th, been playing it solid since then, needs some more patching, but overall the game is really fantastic.
The only issues I have had are the Dynamic Wet Surface does not appear to work on walls, works fine on the ground, I get an occasional graphics glitch if I turn to fast, but it is only minor. Had two CTDs now but I reloaded and it was fine. I play on a Toshiba X200 with 4 gigs RAM and an 8700m 512 dedicated VRAM. Mornings can be a little laggy with the god rays, but it runs fine. Here are some screens for those interested.
Nights are very dark, and very dangerous now.
