I sure hope this game is not what developers have planned for our future.
First off, I am deployed to Afghanistan right now and on a REAL REAL good day can get dial up speed to the internet. The connection is also thru a VERY stricked proxy server.
So, being as my laptop is not that great, I thought I would try this game out.
First off, there is the steam thing. I cannot seem to find a way to install this game without going through steam first. If I have horrible or no internet connection, well then steam is not going to work for me.
So why would they make this internet advertising junk part of the game in the first place. Its nothing but bloatware on my PC. I do not need to see a list of games that I have loaded, I think I probably already know this. The only other thing it does is show me news about games. IE advertisement.
So you are probably wondering if there is a question in all of this. Well, I want to know if there is a way to install THE GAME without steam? The game that I thought I was purchasing.

Nope, there isn't. The only way to remove steam is to download the pirated version, but that is illegal even if you own the game.
However, Steam does have an offline mode so you can play the games without internet access. This way you only need to connect once to authorise the game and then you can use it without the internet. -
I tried to connect and register, but I get pre-load in my game list and it tells me to I need to purchase the game I already purchased. Complete junk. It makes no sense AT ALL why I cannot install the game without Steam.
Did I purchase the game or did I purchase the right to use steam? -
I hate Steam too, but they don't use Steam for your convenience, they use it to stop piracy.
It doesn't work though -
Steam is free to use, so what you purchased was (hopefully) the game. But it still requires Steam to run.
I haven't played SIN, so not sure if it's available in a standard CD/DVD retail package, or if it's downloadable only. Do you have to download it, or do you have CD's?
Anyway, in Steam's options somewhere, you may have to register the game(s) you bought, before they're made available to you.
And lke said above, once it's installed and verified, you can play it offline.
Yep, it's a pain, especially if you have a bad connection. But Valve doesn't seem to be too worried about that.
