I know. 8800M GTX SLI is more than enough for me now![]()
-
That's good to hear. I think that getting the 9800M GTX SLI (when it comes out) over the 9800M GT would be ~$800 +/- thrown out the window when it could be saved up for a faster GPU in one year that is even better than the 9800M GTX. I am just hoping that the D901C will go beyond the 9800M GTX. It seems that all games, except Crysis, play well. I'm not even interested much in Crysis. I want RTS, TBS, and RPG games (StarCraft II, Civ4, Diablo III, Galactic Civ II, Fallout 3, etc.).
I also want to play MANY older games that I have missed out on, like Warhammer 40k, and more! -
Then the D901C is your laptop
-
Crysis plays well if you just tweak it. I have tweaked mine and see how good it looks and plays on my 8800m GTX SLI.

Crysis is a tweaking fest, hope Warhead comes already tweaked
i hate doing all those stuff each time i install Crysis.
-
Magnus, I don`t get what you`re doing to the game, but even with your config, Crysis doesn`t look as good on mine as it does on yours
-
he did something with the Colours. you can see that from the leaves
-
Ok, but what?!
-
Hmm and you use my config + cvars I sent eleron? Strange, though check if colorgrading = 1 is in the autoexec.cfg.
-
yup thats the thing
-
Great thread! I own an alienware m9750 myself and would like to know which drivers you used for you 7950GTX to get such good SLI results?
Oh, and you should probably test Crysis and Mass Effect.
Deserves a sticky
-
Ok guys, i feel that i need to update this thread with some new games, i'll do my best to Post Deadspace and Farcry 2 tomorrow.
-
Lol@ Dmc4!
-
Yeah 7950 GTX SLI is indeed very powerful. Brainer how long have you had you rig? It´s nice to see it plays game even maxed out today, this is what puts my confidence in SLI is the right way to go.
-
aha glad someone is still interested about SLI stuff, i'll be doing the benchmarks promised tomorrow
hopefully a new driver will come out, since i'll need those new Profiles for Fallout 3 and Farcry 2
and ive got my rig since the model was out, was a first buyer actually -
Yeah I am always interested in SLI
I think I will go SLI with my desktop rig too soon, will get me another 8800GTX should last me for a while since my max res is 1440x900 on my desktop and my 8800GTX maxes out every single game out there at that res
-
Update: Added Differences Chart + Dead Space--------> more that 150% increase? weird, its an EA game.
EDIT: i feel funny today, i'll try to do Fallout 3 -
Alright, Fallout 3 Added
-
Great thread you have here.
I haven't seen all the pics but after reading the whole thing, it really puts SLi into perspective.
Great Job (+rep
)
-
thank you mate, i'll be adding Call of duty World at war when it gets stable
-
No worries,
I'm subscribed now so just post when you update and I'll visit again
-
alright thanks again
-
No worries
Always like to increase my general knowledge and this sure did, SLI may play a major role in any future laptops I buy now
-
wow, so SLI is good for gaming now.... back in the old days people dont even recommend SLI but with the recent driver i guess, it is a huge leap. Cool!!
sadly i only got a single GPU
probably going SLI with the 260GTX hell yeah!!!
Good info!!! I really want to see how Far Cry 2 played in SLI... -
i'm waiting for both FC2 and call of duty WaW to get more stable, probable in a couple of days or so. Maybe Left 4 dead tomorrow, since its more CPU Bound, since people are starting to think i'm lying with my benchmarks xD
And yeah, SLI in the past Reduced the performance
-
+1, finally proof that SLI is definitely worth it. I'd heard from a few places that running dual cards in SLI wasn't much of an improvement over 1 card.
-
Yeah, about 1 year ago SLI was not good enough. I guess the drivers were all the issue there.
-
I don't know whether it has been questioned yet, but how did the FPS in Dead Space double exactly?
-
Some games like Bioshock, you need to have vsync turned on if using SLi. All the screen tearing comes from the massive fps (not pleasant to the eyes). It looks smoother and you'll avg 60fps (which is beyond playable fps).
-
The same day sli and PCIexpress came out, i bought an Asus mobo and 2 6800gt (cost me a fortune now that i think of it.)
the fps increase was so irrelevant, and so many games bugged, that i just disabled one of them 2 weeks later. and never ever used it again.
I didnt realise how much progress was made. gg
SLI VS no SLI
