Not sure wether anyone has posted results for a 7600gt go 256 notebook card(YES IM A NOOBIE!!), Just to give you an idea how good this card runs (take it from me it is dam good even though my old desktop was a x2 4400+ with an x1900xt)

Flatout 2 runs silky smooth at 1920x1200 with 4xaa and 16xaf
Doom 3 runs silky smooth at 1920x1200 high detail with 4xaa
Dungeon Seige 2 1920x1200 max everything is silky smooth!
Black and White 2 1920x1200 max everything noaa is silky smooth!
Quake 4 runs silky smooth at 1680x1050 high detail with noaa
Prey runs silky smooth at 1680x1050 high detail with noaa
Need for speed is most wanted 1280x800 is Smooth with max detail and 2xaa (slight stutters here and there, not sure why)
FEAR runs smooth at 1280x800 high detail with no aa and no soft shadows
Half Life 2 Runs like Butter at 1920x1200 high detail no aa and 8xaf
Half Life 2 Episode 1 Runs like Butter at 1680x1050 high detail no aa and 8xaf
Sin Episodes Emergence Runs like Butter at 1920x1200 with high detail no aa and 8xaf
Hitman Blood Money runs Beautiful at 1680x1050 all settings maxed with no aa
Oblivion runs great at 1280x768 at high detail with noaa (Looks and runs better than my xbox 360 version does!)
Serious Sam 2 runs like butter at 1680x1050 max settings with noaa and 8xaf
Tomb Raider Legends Runs Nice at 1280x800 with noaa max settings with next gen effects ( a few stutters on this game but i think its lack of ram, still waiting for 1 gig upgrade)

so here they are from my sig( everything is run at stock speeds, the graphics card is at 500/1200)

Yeah, wow it is a 7600GT that caught my eye aswell. The 3dmark scores seem about average for the 7600.

    Nice laptop. :)

ah it does show it on the nvidia site, check this link an look at the bottom of its page:
    http://www.nvidia.com/page/go_7600.html
i find it bizzare that they dont make a fuss about it seeing as it has a hdmi output for the blueray/hd
i also have some serious overclocking to do as the laptop is whisper quiet in games!

Yeah so is mine, my laptop is very quiet, the fan is barely audible.

    It has an X1600 256mb.

Is the 7600GT still an 8-pipeline part or is it up to 12 like the desktop one?

That performance is amazing, worlds ahead of what I'm getting on my standard Go 7600.

Those are some very nice scores. I looked at the Sony AR and am really impressed with the looks (as I am with most all Sony's), but in the end I got too good of a deal on my M90 to pass up. Plus, by the time you add the BluRay, you're talking some serious bucks. But then again you have a Samsung Q1 and an Ericsson M600i, so I guess you have the money. :)

Excellent laptop Focca, I have my eyes on this model as well. Couple of questions:

    1. The 1900x1200 res seems a bit high, but I see its the only option to get the 256 vs the 128 video card. Arent things too small at this resolution? Hard to read text?
    2. How is battery life, any ideas? Which battery you have, small one or large one?
    3. Also SUCKS they 'force' me to put in two hard drives so I can get the higher res screen, better video card. Do you have any idea if I decide for the lower res screen, and buy it with one hd, if I can put my own there sometime later?

    Thanks!

    I think 1920
x1200 perfectly suits the screen, its suprisingly easy to read plus 1080p videos are an absolute joy to watch., not sure wether the 128meg version has the hdmi output either..
I have the standard battery and with normal office use with bluetooth and wifi on and music playing i average about 1hr 30 min.. 1hr if gaming..
Regardingthe hard drives, im pretty sure you can put an extra hard drive in later in the lower res modelas this is one of the questions i asked the sony manager at the store in leeds uk.. strange thing is he said the graphics card is upgradeable on the ar11s for future proofing,i didnt know this could be done on laptops. sorry if this post is a bit messy, im posting from my phone lol! good luck with your choice

5500 with OC, but still great score for a mainstream card.

Even not overclocked its 4902 in 3DMark'05 (See first post).
    That is an awesome score...

Maybe they could implement GT versions in 14/15" notebooks. That would be cool :)

Wow. Beautiful looking laptop. A question for you Focca. How is your battery life on the bluetooth mouse? I have to change mine so often I want to see if it's just mine or if all of these eat batteries like there's no tomorrow.

If you want very long battery life go for the Logitech v270 BT mouse. It last months. The Sony mouse does look a lot better though.
I use to have the same problem trying other BT mice.

Wow. You're approaching my scores. I got ~6400 in 3dmark05 and ~4900 in 3dmark05 at stock clocks with Dell drivers. I could probably get more, sure, but why? I run F.E.A.R. at native res with everything on max and soft shadows with great framerates, so why complain? Very nice laptop though.

Yes your right, the first few sets of batteries i got didnt last long ast all (about 10 hours of use) but then i decided to get a charger and some rechargeable batteries, i got the energizer pack from tesco here in the UK which was the cahrger and 4 batteries for £12, they are absolute stellar, they have been in the mouse a week now with a hell of a lot of use!!

you got around a 4900 STOCK?! back when i had a 7800, when i set it to standard clocks it would get a 4200. and i could only push it to around 5500 with overclocking, clearly on par with your scores. That is a really powerful card, although 500/1200 clocks seem pretty high to me...

Im in shock too!! even at 550/1400 the laptop seemed pretty quiet!! When i first bought the laptop i certainly was not expecting to be able to play some of the latest games at max detail at 1920x1200!!

    OK ANOTHER OVERCLOCK!!
Last one i think, i pushed the 7600GT Go to 600/1450 and i can tell you that it is rock solid stable even in a warm environment, i can actually here the fans kick in at these speeds also!!
I reckon the mem can be pushed higher but ill leave that to the experts!! A stellar overclocker for a laptop graphics card though, you might notice i got an extra gig of ram aswell at last!!

Focca, one of my worries about this laptop is its resolution, that being so high its going to be difficult to read text. Anyone knows of a place I can get images at this resolution with text, speadsheets or web viewing? Nevermind, I'll try to make one by my own, so I can try to scale it to how tiny text would look if this 1280x800 15,4" screen was that laptop (but then again you can play with DPI values).

Thanks... or if anyone knows of somewhere I could get this, would be interesting. Its my biggest gripe about this laptop (save for the price! but then again, its reasonable given the specs).

Another question, how is the sound? Is it good? (for a laptop). harmon/kardon on the Toshiba is nice (but this is no deal breaker).

How warm does it get while not gaming? Web browsing, etc?

Weight is high, 8.4lb, but not so much as other high performance 17" machines.

Its hard to find info on this laptop! Thanks,

    Juan Miguel Venturello

The Sound is fantastic in games,TV and music, for some reason when playing a dvd the sound is quite low (this is a known problem though which will be fixed with a patch from sony/sigma)

The laptop when gaming is only luke warm which is nice considering i moved from a powerbook which was so hot i couldnt use it as a "lap"top!!

im not sure about the image thing, do you want me to post a full scale image on here at 1920x1200 with this website on? I can tell you now that i can read all the text on this web page from 3 ft away, its nothing to worry about whatsoever if your eyesight is fine, to me it seems like the natural resolution for this screen! I dont think that Scaling down wont do the pictures justice. maybe i could take a pic later that includes the laptop bezel to give a better idea?

Focca don't get me wrong but you sound a little subjective to me. You said you can easily read webpages on 1920x1200 from 1m(3ft)?! I've got a laptop with such screen and I have to increase fonts to read from, I don't know, 0,5m and I don't have problems with eyes. It's also hard to believe that laptop is whisper quiet. Ok, maybe during word processing, web surfing or something but not during heavy gaming on OCed GPU. 7600GT is a monster so it must generate much heat, it's simple. Unless you're gaming in refrigerator but your avatar says you don't ;)
Nevertheless great machine, even though I hate Sony (except PSP :p )

Yes overclocked you hear the fans kick in, but it still isnt that loud!! I swear i can read everything on this webpage from 3ft away!! Im using all standard settings for ie7 beta 3. Also dont forget having had a few desktop 7600gt, one with a zalman which is whisper quiet in gaming and the other was a fanless heatsink clocked at higher speeds than this one at stock. Its a stellar GPU!! Heh my avatar pic from when i was in the Bahamas lol, im from the UK and my house is warmer than normal.

Desktop 7600GT is faster and warmer than mobile equivalent so I don't think we can compare them. Besides ANY laptop has such good cooling solution as Zalman's desktop fans ;) And indeed - 7600GT is great, wish to have it in my W3j but X1600 still suits my needs.

Good to know heat is not an issue, and that sound is fine. Been looking at Sony's AR's web pages, its a beautiful laptop.

Focca would you mind sending me the full size screenshot? Not posting it (too large!) but emailing it. I dont think the bezel picture would do justice nor what I want to attempt judging.

Will pm you my email, and thanks for that beforehand!
