I think it looks gnarly, but I hate to burst your bubble, it is apparently going to be changed to Q4 of 08 or Q1 of 09

Should be neat if it ever comes out. I bet when it does that it looks nothing like the previews that are out there though. :)

Thats what i've been thinking, it will probably run amazingly well on almost any comp too i guess, any creature can be compressed to about 3kb i think which is ridiculous but its because like 80% of the game is code, not data

Man, years mixed with video game years are now very confusing. They should just make it along the normal calendar

IGN: You said the DS is going to be shipping the same time as the PC. When is that exactly? There's been some confusion lately…

Patrick Buechner: So as our new CEO John Riccitiello said in his first call with Wall Street analysts back in May was that Spore was tracking toward the cusp of our fiscal year which ends in March of 2008. For business purposes we weren't going to play the launch in this fiscal year and so nothing has changed since then. It's still around that time frame but for business purposes it's being planned for next fiscal year, which begins April 1st.

IGN: So April 1st, 2008, or beyond.

Patrick Buechner: Yeah, but I wouldn't say too far beyond.

This is part of an article on IGN that is what i'm basing my opinions of release date on.

A game pushed back due to fiscal purposes? Wow, that seems the exact opposite of what normally happens, where the business end of a game forces it to 'erupt' earlier than it should. This is fine with me, more time for the designers to tweak and polish.

i don't think it was pushed back because of fiscal purposes probably the fact that EA's fiscal 09 is lacking so they need somethin huge to keep it afloat for that year, thats my guess...

they're even thinking about a mobile version of it too, but that would most likely be just the cell pacman style version of the game

Judging from screenshots/video you will likely not need a very powerful video card to run the game. Given the nature of the actual game, I wouldn't expect requirements to be very high anyway. That being said, with all the procedural generation of content I wouldn't be surprised if the game required a dual core minimum. Anything made in the last year or so will probably be able to play it.

Sounds about right. I remember seeing a video where Will Wright promised to keep in mind systems that are not top spec. Or something to that effect. I would expect it to be pretty memory-intensive, though.

Yeah, I've been waiting for years! I think I first heard about the concept about seven or eight years back. Not sure if my memory is betraying me there, but I remember hearing about it when the Sims was first big.
