Ok, so ive encountered a problem with steam. I went to install a retail copy of orange box on my new g51j. I inserted the dvd and it install steam, it then trys to update and when it reaches 99% it freezes the whole comp and I have to do a hard reset. When i restart the computer i have to go into task manager and endproccess steam so the computer wont freeze again, and then proceed to un install it. I tried going on steam website and downloading the latest version incase the one on my dvd was older but it does exactly the same thing! :(

    Thanks NBR community, any ideas?

OS is Windows 7 Home Prem 64-Bit

Don't install TF2 from the disk. Log in to Steam, and register your CD key if you haven't yet, and just download the game. It will take longer (a few hours most likely), but it's always worked for me.

as i said in the OP. I cant even begin to install it because Steam crashes right away at 99% when updating.

Maybe try deleting the local files linked to the TF2 install.
