Anybody else tried the new UI? Did you guys like it?
-
What, you mean the one that's been around for like two months?
Yeah, it takes some getting used to, but it's grown on me. The in-game overlay is definitely a huge improvement over the last version (although it's somewhat lost on me thanks to freaking PunkBuster viewing it as a cheat). -

I read a lot more bad than good, people having issues not being able to play games.
-
So there have been no changes to it since the announcement of the beta? I tried for a few days, but I wasn't digging the skin or new arrangements.
-
i tried the last one and it was a nightmare as for some reason it attempted to re download cod mw2 again and wouldnt let the game load until it had finished.
reverted back to the original steam with no joy as the damage was done and i had to let it download the whole game again.
not impressed,so im staying well clear unless we dont have a choice. -
Been using it for about a month now. I REALLY like it over the old interface. The switch from IE6 to Webkit for the rendering engine is enough to make this new UI worth it, but it also comes with a ton of other neat features like greatly improved Achievement listing and library organization.
-
I'm using the new UI and I really enjoy it. I haven't had any problems so far. I don't see myself going back to the old one...
-
Can someone link me to the BETA? I'm interesting in upgrading to it.

The UI really looks sweet, but some games dont run well with it, like punkbuster games.
Just disable the in game overlay stuff and you should be able to play on online servers again. -
Been using it since day one and i love it , it's easy to use , and looks nice. No performance issues whatsoever.

Yeah, been using it since day one as well. I like it. However, I haven't been been playing my STEAM games much so IDK how it's progressed. I know at first it was very unstable and later got a lot better.
-
so has it been updated? i might get it... but so far all i have heard is bad stuff about it.. is it good or worth it?
-
-
I too have been using and loving it for a while.
-
Ditto here, looks great and haven't ran into any problems yet. Favorite additions will have to be the move to webkit and the improved ingame overlay.
-
i am just so used to the old steam. it works. i will have to get used to a whole new system. i will manage of course as its not exactly a big deal, but i will hold off until it becomes the only option

So does it still have punkbuster issues or is that fixed? What about the bug where it makes you download some games all over again.
-
I tried it for a few days, but ultimately hated it and went back. My biggest issue is that I always have steam running on the right side of my screen just showing a small list of my games, and taking up very little space on my screen. You can't seem to do that with the beta. It's all just a bunch of wasted space and garbage when all I really want is just that simple list of my games and nothing else. If they permanently switch over, they better fix it and add this.
-
I have been using it and have not come across a single problem. I love the extra functionality and think it is about time steam updated.
-
It's great. it's second nature to me now, like driving a manual car. i had to switch back to regular to download the free weekend mw2, but then switched back because i like it so much. a few minor problems but they are alwasy fixing them. i wish the "click person icon to send message" would come back, now i just go to their page. but i love the clock in the shift tab. so far every game i tried works fine with it, exepct BF 2142 thinks its a cheat or something when i launch it with steam. Tf2, GTA4, L4D, EmpireTW, Portal, CSS, AVP, Gmod and more work fine.
-
absolutely love the new UI. I had one initial problem with the in game steam not showing all text, but a little shortcut fix permanently fixed it afterward. So I'm set with it. Very happy, new browser kicks , so I can use gmail chat within it.

Reminds me of the Zune software

im also am using the steam beta and really like it, really like the interface, things seem to be well presented and very user friendly..........actually i would go so far as to say a update that is really worthy of the title

many a time i have come out of game to find its 3.41am... like right now.....
-
I've definitely been there, I don't think the clock will stop me from gaming into the late night though.
-
I'm not touching the beta! I just hope they fix the backup utility. It's so basic and unuseful its ridiculous.
-
seemed laggy to me when scrolling up and down. that was on my first start up though so ill test again today but aside from that i really like it. i also noticed i have played mount and blade warband for 130hrs!
-
^ holy crap! the game hasn't even been out that long lol. you enjoying it eh?
-
yea the funny thing is i rarely complete games much less play them for THAT long lol. i think i have beated like 5 out of my 58 games on my steam acc ha
-
130 hours in how many days.......? u can haz my GeekPoints for the win.
-
scratch that its 149hrs(just got home from work)....only thing that can rival that number is FF9 from when i was a teenager. good thing im having my friends over tonight for the bulls vs cavs game. TV is getting lonely haha
on topic though steam is still laggy. -
But that's pretty much the only game I've spent so many hours recently. That's why I thank God every day when I'm praying that I don't like MMOs (I get tired of the same thing over and over very quickly. FFXIII I had the immediate goal of getting the platinum)
-
The steam beta looks pretty neat, although it is still slightly buggy.
