HELLO EVERYONE! I' M TOTALLY NEW TO THIS FORUM. SO THANX IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!

It's time to change my 7 year old laptop. I'm torn between the two models i posted in the title of the tread.

    I use the laptop to:

1- work (I translate Word documents.doc while using multiple internet pages to switch between online vocabularies and forum pages such as wordreference.com)

2-play (games such as Neverwinter nights 2 or Unreal 3). It's ok not playing these types of games at full settings with max graphics and so on but it is mandatory that games are fluent and have a medium-high resolution

P.S. battery is not a problem. i use it at home at all times.

The abovementioned stuff are my requirements.

    listed below are the laptops.

I would recommend the HP because of its cheaper pricing and better specs in the CPU and GPU department.

ATI 4670 actually outperforms the GT 230M.

I would still go for the HP though. The CPU is substantially better and the GT230M should satisfy your needs.

The Dell has a better GPU and a 1920 x 1080 screen, I'm not sure what the HP has for resolution.

thanx a lot guy! i'll just wait another couple of suggestions and then off to buy!!!

as for the screen....i dont know but my idea was that maybe i dont need a super powerful full HD because i will never use a game able to exploit it and i'm no fan of movies but still the screen has to be a good one of course! ^^

If you were gaming, the lower resolution screen would probably be better as these mid range cards can't drive all games at high settings at 1920 x 1080.

hp would beat the XPX 16 for future proofing and with slight overclock , the GT230M will be great... however , having a full HD screen would be great so check if ur superstore has it for hp...
