There are a lot of cool things in this expansion. I was a great fan of the first one + exp, S:UW, but it took me a while to "get it". I couldn't "get it" on this game for a while, but I'm playing it now, and there are some incredible enhancements that make the game fun again.

    1. You can set a portal point at the Resurrection Shrines. You can only activate one location at a time, so choose wisely. Clicking on it from the map makes you warp there. Choose another resurrection monument, warp to town via a portal, and you can warp back and forth between a town with a portal and a monolith you activated. You can only activate one monolith at a time.

    2. You can instantly port to any portal that you have discovered without restriction via the map.

    3. You can sell things immediately at below cost (great for huge grey items that take up so much space)

    4. Ice and Blood gives you the carrier Imp. He will travel no matter where you are to give you access to both the shared stash and your personal stash.

5 That's right, shared stash, a traveling bank, and you can teleport to portals. You can set a Resurrection shrine to go there, and it is beneficial to head to one close to where you may have quests. Other than that, you can take a portal immediately by using the map.

This isn't hack and slash redefined. It *is* however, hack and slash refined.

Only one new character class - the Dragon Mage. I can't offer you opinions on that class, since I just picked it back up.

I'm playing a Dryad, and she is very fun to play. None of the characters in the game are pigeon holed into a role, but how you develop them makes or breaks gameplay.

The teleporting is new, and it is the best thing the game designers could have done. It cuts down on the annoying parts.

That said, I wish I had more to tell you about the Dragon Mage, but I'm having so much fun with my Dryad now that the game isn't annoying beyond belief (as it was on release), I really couldn't judge :).

It's worth a purchase, but prepare to have your leisure time fall into the black hole known as Sacred 2.

I'm having a great time now that I picked up a Shadow Warrior with 2-Handers and the most fun I'm having, is a Dryad with Dual-Wielding Magic Rods (maces the look like) and Acute Mind.

This is one of the more fun ARPGs released. It has a steep-a$$ learning curve, though, that's why I had trouble getting started. You don't even know what is going on until about level 12. It's hard to complete quest, because the map system is so foreign. Once you get it, though, it's great.

Sacred one was not this hard to get started.

Where do you purchase the expansion? Brick-and-mortar? Steam? Impulse? Is the expansion compatible with North American versions of Sacred 2?

I heard the expansion was an EU only release...whatever that means in the era of worldwide digital distribution...

I bought the original from Gamestop as a UK import, as I did the expansion. That's how I bought Sacred + UW, as well. I had far fewer issues with the UK version and got the gore, so that's how I bought the original :)

You can pick it up as a package I think, but it isn't compatible with the US version. I have the UK version.

If you've been playing it for a while, it probably doesn't warrant a purchase, since there isn't a whole lot of new stuff. I do find that it is a lot more playable as far as the camera goes for someone that didn't play it before. I bought it and played it about 5 minutes when I first got it, so now with the expansion I'm rediscovering it.
