    1. The Suffering
    2. F.E.A.R.
    3. Doom ]I[
    4. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
    5. Private Nurse

If you haven't played them, you don't know what "scarry" means.

    1. Good story, graphics, atmosphere, scary sounds, great gameplay...
    2. Good graphics, some extremly scarry and spooky scenes (movie-alike)
    3. Good graphics, atmosphere, darkness...
    4. Chernobyl, mutants, good graphics, gameplay, FPS+RPG
    5. Priate Nurse - Not a horror game, but it gets into your mind so deeply that, after you wakeup you actually think you're your ingame character...

The original Silent Hill. Beating those mutant babies with the crowbar in the deserted school, and trying to desperately outrun them in the dark corridors only to reach a dead end. I preferred to turn off the console then turn and face them.

Alien VS Predator was another pant wetter.

You win, all other games are fun and all but AvP (first one, not the crappy second) was probably the nearest a game has been to being scarey. And it wasn't very scarey.

Things like doom3 were tame and lame, i'm honestly surpised so many people mentioned it.

At the American McGee mention; American McGee's alice was awesome but not scarey, it was fantastically morbid and pretty :)
Silent Hill has awesome art work, but poor execution for the most part.

well Doom 3 wasn't scary at all. I don't know about the original Doom, but Doom 3 just had it's "flinch-moments" as I call it. Not much kept me playing except the hype that surrounded(surrounds) it and the story.

Resident Evil 4 was pretty scary the first time I played it. There were moments where people would just pop out of nowhere...or a boss would just look so scary.....

Played both Quake and Prey and neither even made me think of the word horror. Prey was horrible as well.

If I had to pick two games that scared me personally they would have to be F.E.A.R. and Condemned. Coincidentally, they are from the same makers and they are both gripping to say the least. F.E.A.R. is a work of art because it is scary AND it's a really good FPS. Condemned on the other hand is more scare-intensified and it's mostly all melee, up close, in your face combat which gets your heart racing.

Doom 3. I only ever tried the demo my boyfriend lent me, but I’m never ever going to play the real thing. Too scary, I was jumping every 10 seconds. Quake 4 for me :S :S

Silent Hill definitely takes the cake. I would rarely ever play that game alone since it was so scary.
