That actually has to with the inf files. Go to laptopvideo2go.com, get a driver, then follow the instructions and how to switch the normal inf file for the modded one. The reason for this is that the drivers are for desktop cards, and that little switch makes the rivers support laptop video cards, ie your current hardware configuration.

I could be wrong, but I got the exact same msg as you when I was trying to overclock mine, so I kinda think I'm on the right track ;)

    Merry overclocking!

I'm getting around 4700, but I got gddr3. I'd say anything in the 4000 range and above is pretty great for a gddr2 8600gt. Just moniter the temps, and don't light your laptop on fire (that won't actually happen ;) ). Glad We could help :)

    Stay below 85C for safety.
Other than that, clean your laptop regularly, check for dust, look for dust clogs in the vents and perform defragmenting every week or so.

If nerf is on stock clocks, a 4700 score would mean he did it @ 1280x800 (not the default resolution). Which is 1280x1024

    Sorry the mix-ups!

I do in fact have an m1530 (loving it!) and my stock score runs around 4000. AFTER o/cing I get around 4700, but for gddr2 (AKA you) you probably won't get much more than 4000, give or take 200 points (which is very good for that card).

And I am running it at 1280 by 1024, otherwise I'd have a lot higher
