At random points in time (usually when looking down freeway, airport landing strip, etc.) the game will CTD for no apparent reason. also, when looking down a certain street colors will invert and wierd shadows appear. dynamic lighting, HDR, and AA are on.

Hm thats interesting for some reason it looks like the textures arent loading properly do you have the lastest drivers?......do you like the game, is it fun?
-
literally, it's GTA: San Andreas with ragdoll and better graphics. It's almost the exact same sort of stupid plot, with the sort-of cartoony graphics and such. I'd say it's worth all of the money, almost as much value with their multiplayer, huge campaign and co-op.
I might update the drivers again, I already DL'd the newest from Nvidia but with all of my viruses I might have to update them again. -

download AVG or AVira they are some of the best free antivirus software you can get.
Thats great to hear its similar to san andreas i still think for GTA series. san Andreas was Superior in many ways to GTA4 and i still say san andreas was one of my favorite games of all time there was so much to do. -
I don't know where I can get drivers...
The newest version that I get fron Nvidia don't work, saying they're incompatible with my hardware. Of course, the driver version listed in Device Manager is .7928, while the ones for the 6860fx on gateway's website are .6746. Any tips on what to do, Do you think the xtreme drivers place will work for me? -

Have you tried using DOX's drivers?
-
I just tried, and while they improve FPS slightly, it still crashes when driving fast and flying. what might I do to help this?

HM i dont know.............you should go to THQ's forum and tell them about your problem they will probably be the best choice. IF that doesnt work you may want to just reinstall

here's a screenshot of some more issues
-
I've seen that happen when I played through the game a few times, but it only lasted a mere few seconds at a time, then the textures loaded in, and after the first update rolled by it was fixed for me, it never crashed though. I'd say you should try turning off the settings one by one and see if any of them are causing the issue.
Did your version auto update? There has been 2 patches since release, but steam should have auto updated the game for you.
And yea it is a pretty fun game, and with the latest patch I get an average of 40-50fps with maxed out settings, no aa, and 1920x1080 with a single HD4850/3Ghz quad, unfortunately crossfire doesn't work though. -

Yeah if its on STEAM it should have patched.........maybe you can ask STEAM support?
-
If it's not updating, one should first check to make sure the game is auto-updating before contacting Steam support.
Right click the game and select "Properties". Navigate to the "Updates" tab and make sure under "Automatic Updates" you have "Always keep this game up to date" selected. -

By default it should be on though unless somehow it was diabled.
-
Yes, but one should check if they're having issues. A while back somebody's game wasn't updating because, for whatever reason, automatic updates wasn't enabled even though the user didn't change any settings.
