I got a replacement v4000t because of some problems with my first one.

3dmark 05 scores were above 2700 on first computer. Using the same drivers they are around 2500. I can't figure out what would cause this, as many other v4000t owners are around the 2700 mark.

3dmark reports the following about my video card:

    VGA Memory Clock 330.8 MHz
    VGA Core Clock 357.8 MHz

    normal?

Not really a big deal, as i cannot tell a difference in actual in-game performance.

Yeah, those are normal stock clocks for your X700

Have you updated the video card drivers?

Same drivers (omega - catalyst 6.1)

I just checked my old results online. Everything is the same except for the slower processor. My old computer had a 750 and the new one is a 760.

I'd be looking at all of your drivers, not just the video card ones.

In all reality, 200 pts equates to around 0.5-1.0 FPS difference, you'll never see it and anything could have caused it. I wouldn't be too concerned.

If your hardware was damaged in any way, there's no way you'd be getting a score that close. So no, it doesn't include that :)

Taylor, ur pc could be clogged with a few viruses and spyware programs which slow down your overall performance.

Guys those scores sound fine to me. No two systems are going to perform exactly the same. This is all within the margin of error.

This is due to a number of things like software configuration, how fragmented your harddrive is, background programs, ram and cpu just running a bit differently.

It's within specs so no worries mates. People report increases of 200points in 3dmark benchmarks, but do you know how minute real life difference that is? Check actual FPS gains with those score increases, it's like 0.4 or less or more but never high enough to be significant. I gained 1000 points on my desktop with some tweaking and new drivers in 3dmark03 and guess what? Actual FPS increase was almost nothing, just a couple FPS here and there and better sound and cpu scores.

So that is my explanation. Your system still performs awesome so don't rely on 3dmark benchmarks to guage system performance, just use it as a tool to see if there are any CHANGES after a driver update or something, but make sure it's a significant increase.

Also, if you run 3dmark01se/03/05/06 whichever test it is, and then record that score, play a couple games and surf the net, then run it again it won't be the same score. Reset the laptop and run 3dmark again, then run it right after again, and the scores won't be the same. It always varies just like any other benchmark, so reviewers usually take averages of 2-3 runs on a benchmark.

    Cheers,
    Mike
