Does anyone happen to own a Samsung KS8000 4K TV and tried hooking their gaming laptop to it? The TV's input lag is only 22ms, industry's lowest input lag at the moment for 4k TV monitors. So I am surprised why not so many hardcore gamers are deploying this setup and sharing their experience.

I am considering buying a Samsung KS8000 to use for viewing TV channels and for pc gaming. The 55inch is around $1200 so it would be insightful to read your experiences before pulling the trigger.

    Thank you

I have the Samsung 49uk8500, 49 inch model and its amazing. I have it hooked up to my desktop, and I haven't seen any type of lag. If the one you want is like mine (probably is) then the highest FPS you can get is 60FPS. Everything I throw at it runs smooth. Make sure you have strong GPUs.

Hardcore gamers I think want triple digit FPS, like 120, 144, gsync etc. Samsung after all is a TV, a very gooooood TV. I use it as my main 4K monitor and cable TV.

I don't own that particular model, but I do own a 4K Samsung KU6300 (input lag is 20ms), and I enjoy gaming on it. Picture is great, including when gaming at 1080p. FPS is limited to 60, but that's fine for my needs. As Scanner said, many gamers want better displays than what TVs can offer (even lower input lag, Gsync, 120+ FPS), but if you're okay not having a top-of-the-line gaming display, I'm sure you'll enjoy gaming on nice 4K TV with low input lag.

KS8000 and KS8500 are basically the same TV. the only difference is that the KS8000 isn't curved. the KS8000 is the cheapest SUHD/HDR TV Samsung offers and also sports the same picture quality as it's top of the line 9000-series brothers.

18-21ms of input lag will be just fine for most casual to mid-level PC gamers. only "pros" require 144Hz monitors and all that junk. console gaming is locked at 30-60FPS.

Thank you all. Please note that the input lag you are referring to is at regular 1080p resolution with chroma 4:4:4 disabled under "Game Mode". This means, and correct me if that is not the case, that text from your computer applications appears a bit blurry on the screen. I believe you are playing in "Game mode" that strips out all the signal enhancement features and disables sharp text, hence the low input lag as you reported. This is fine if the game has no text whatsoever, but if you are playing something like skyrim or opened up the in-game menu, your level of satisfaction might change.

Your 2 reported TVs above, according to rtings, should perform as follows:

    Samsung KS8500 input lag:

    1080p@60hz = 23.1ms (Game Mode)
1080p@60hz@4:4:4 = 39.5ms (Sharper text mode, PC Monitor)

    Samsung KU6300 input lag:

    1080p@60hz = 19.8ms (Game Mode)
1080p@60hz@4:4:4 = 36.7ms (Sharper text mode, PC Monitor)

Please let us know of your windows gaming experience with Chroma 4:4:4 enabled on your TV for more crisp text. To enable Chroma 4:4:4 on your Samsung, simply switch to "PC Mode". I am here to ask for a real life feel of these figures as they don't mean much to me because I never gamed on a TV monitor before. The KS8000 and KU6300 are major candidates for purchase over Christmas. Thank you for your assistance.

Ahh, now I understand what you meant by in game text. I do have Skyrim, and been playing it for quite awhile. I have well over 200 mods in this game and still adding more, this is the same for fallout 4 with over 150 mods. I mention these games because the in game text when using the menus is crisp and clear. Additionally, when reading the nexus forums to learn about new mods I have no trouble. I have not switched to PC mode for anything, game mode is always on. I even use word in game mode and have no trouble. The icons on my desktop are nice and crisp also.
If you choose to play on the Samsung And not a crazy hardcore gamer you should be happy.

But if you just experiment and switch to PC mode, will the text become sharper and the lag more noticeable? Just a test for us please.

Also, do you feel at a disadvantage when playing multiplayer online on your samsung kS8500?

Are you using a HDMI connection?
