This is an amazing game which needs to be played more, now there r about 150-500 people online at all times *depends on the time*.
The game is now for sale on Steam for 6 USD or you can get a free account with limited priviliges

    ABout the game

It is kinda of like HON, DOTA, Leage of Legends in FPS or third person style!

Players can choose between two factions: the Legion of Man or the Beast Horde. The initial launch of Savage 2 features the Conquer game type. This game is won by destroying the enemy's command center - which is either a stronghold or a lair. Each team elects one commander - who views the game from a classic RTS perspective - to build defenses to support his team and buildings to unlock additional classes for other players. The other players on the teams view the game mostly from a third-person viewpoint and can control a unit from any of the classes available for spawning.

The only real resource is gold, which can be gathered from gold mines. These mines are vital for each team since they are the only way to build defenses and pay the upkeep.

Another task of the commander is to build garrisons or sub lairs, these serve as an additional spawn point - besides the command center. Good position and defence of these structures is essential: a well placed backdoor garrison can give a team a huge advantage.

The commander also can give orders to his team members and can use a wide array of buffs and debuffs to turn the tide of battle.

Where do you see 6.00 for the game. On steam it is telling me it is 9.99. Either way, I am downloading the free version now to try it out. Hopefully it runs nice on the 8600m gt.

Cool, i guess it was 6.99 Euros. Dont worry about ur 8600 GT. I run ut at all maxed settings except shadows and grass view distance. on my 7600GO, so u shoould be able to fully max it without any stress.

    OP: not it's really not.
As a long-time member of the community since Savage 1, the entire community including the creator S2 Games has generally admitted Savage2 failings; I was there when we voted to give it away for free in a last-ditch effort to attract new members (to which it did not start out by being friendly).

It's gone through so many changes and reincarnations (I was one of thsoe who rallied strongly to get the old RPS stun-fest combat system changed) its hard to define exactly what it is. Suffice to say, from Savage, they've flattened the tech-tree and constricted the choices in play style. It plays more like a RPG rather than the RTS/FPS hybrid that it's supposed to be and character's special skills both come into play too often and not enough.

I do agree though that for free, everyone should at least try it to see if it's their cup of tea. A free account only lacks some extra slots for items/runes which again I felt made it too RPG-ish. They were right to abandon it and pursue the RPG element fully in HoN (even though I care not for the genre, at least it is a good game).

It is the same developers that makes HON, which is the new DOTA, so some heroes and stuff from DOTA/HON is in Savage 2 as well.
