On a sheer terror level Clocktower is still king. There is no way to describe feeling so helpless as a homicidal maniac is chasing you, you run and try to hide under the bed to see him walking closer and closer to you, you praying to whatever god that you worship that he doesnt find you and .................

For horror on a mortal level, the first Silent Hill was just O.O. I still remember getting cold chills anytime that radio started to go off in the fog... and the first time the world changed.....

The scariest game I've ever played was Fatal Frame on PS2, by a freaking mile.

Dead Space is typical American scary, where blood all over the walls and creepy crawlies jumping out at you are the order of the day.

Fatal Frame is just relentlessly, unspeakably creepy.

Minesweeper!! Real Scary when the mine blows up!!

Jokes aside, you may wanna check out Clive Barker's Undying or the Resident evil series/Silent hill series. Prefer newer games , then try Jericho (ratings are pretty bad for it though) or the new kid on the block which is Dead Space. Playing Dead space at the moment and it is real scary and gruesome.

    Lol

I second the Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I remember playing in a dark room at night the Resident Evil(s), I'd jump each time some nasty mutant came along. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Condemned 1 is very scary. The 2nd less so.

Also Eternal Darkness, and Silent Hill 2 I think are the scariest from last gen.
