yeah, don't know of any free ones, except FRAPS is well worth the cost if you want to do any kind of video capturing or benchmarking.

Yes, Fraps is the best tool for in-game video capture.

But remember that video capturing is resource-intensive so you will see a big drop in FPS. Try to record in lower resolutions for better performance and smaller file sizes.

Fraps isnt too taxing on your pc.... if you can run the game at avg. fps of like 40 then fraps should work fine.

The video files become HUGE if you record at native res. and no compression ;) believe me... about 1 gig for 1280*800... 30 secs... lol

FRAPS is taxing for video capturing - especially for a laptop's slower HDD RPM's and write and read speeds.

    FRAPS is good,

However, XFIRE is in process of a beta allowing users to capture in game footage and such. It's free, easy to use, and it's in a beta.

I have been looking for screen video capture software for days. There are some recorders for game recording, such as ZD soft game recorder, GamCam, or Fraps. But most of them are not free. Camstudio is free, but it just can record some small games.
Screen recorders like Captive and DemoCreator are wonderful for making recording for software tutorial, but not for games.
