Love Gearbox's season pass. I picked it up at discount I believe for $15. And I get actual new content in 4 new DLC's, this includes tons of new quests, new voice acting, more hilarious quest lines and stories. Normally I get angry when companies ask for more money when it should be included, but even for $30, it's a good deal.
Now for EA/Activision. $50 for 4 maps? Really? EA says 5, but everyone already had Karkland before their terrible offer was available. $10 per map pack is what it comes out to. Just maps. No new voice acting. No new campaigns. No new co-op awesomeness. No new content that would have required voice acting or anything strenuous. This is work that the PC community if modding tools was available, could have provided for free.
Just venting. Can't believe they think it's an awesome deal to save $10 for a bunch of maps that I would expect to have been free if they provided any map/modding tools anyway.

I've never been particularly interested in the "season pass" concept, usually I just wait a year or two after launch and buy all the DLC for $1.99 or so, or buy the GOTY version for $5 during a steam sale, etc.
The problem with EA's games is that Origin never seems to do deep discount sales like Steam. And for some of the EA games it can be kind of complicated just to buy the DLC. For example, you can't buy most of the DLC for Bioware games on Origin, you have to buy some kind of lame points system and then trade points for DLC. I just skip all that stuff. -
I guess if you wanted to buy those DLCs after they go on deep sale, everyone would have stopped playing then.
As for Origin, I'm able to buy Origin keys pretty cheap through discount stores and not have to worry about region locking/language issues like I do with Steam. -
the only way we can stop them is buy not buying. But since they sells like hot cake so publishers like EA and Activision will just keep pumping them out. What cha gonna do?
And yeah Origin doesn't region lock games like Steam does although for some you may only get Russian language and have to tinkle with the game files a bit.
In other news, 2K may or may not offer a DLC pass season 2 for Borderlands 2. -

Good thing I play other multiplayer FPS games
. Free updates from devs + community which makes new maps.

When I heard that you have to pay 50 bucks for like 4 maps, that's PITA right there. So you don't have any other maps apart official ones?
But I guess as long as consumers are OK with it, why EA/Activision couldn't abuse it.
