I never played the original Secret of Monkey Island, but I've only heard great things about it. Anyone planning on getting it? Anyone played the original and what did you think of it? Wonder if the story will hold up after all these years. Original was released almost 20 years ago! (1990).

The adventure game genre isn't as hot as it was during its early 90s heyday, but there should be enough core support to push sales.

i played the original and all its sequel. this is one game that brought me over to the graphic adventure game genre, because it was funny with some pretty clever puzzles that feel rewarding once you solved them.

but as harley said, the genre is not as popular these days, but hopefully some of the new "reworked" lucasart games like monkey island, sam & max will help to revive it.

All games from this series were great, very entertaining and with a clever and accurate sense of humor.

I hope they add new gameplay features and make it still playable...

Wish they would add some puzzles. Being a kid and all i used a guide for the early games and missed out on solving them. From the screenshots i hate the new art and style. Most new 2d games don't impress me because they seem too digital and clean when compared to the 80s early 90s 2d art. Though i disliked the graphics of part 5 and actually kinda liked it in the end.
