    Hi,I cant believe my self...

    But its true: http://www.sega.com/gamesite/theclub/fullsite/productkey.html

    quote:

Not a smooth move on Sega’s part, one can simply go to The Club website and request a product key instantly emailed to them with no verification whatsoever. This should probably be brought to someone important and Sega’s attention. Perhaps there was a problem with the game where many didn’t ship with a product key? Is Sega really that lazy to just throw up a request form and send out keys to everyone who wants one? This is serious customer support laziness and will only end up hurting Sega in the end.

it´s actually not piracy or something similar. it´s a free give-away from sega. I doubt that they have done this by accident. Maybe it´s some new kind of PR, i guess we´ll see in the next days whats behind this "gift".

It's on the front page, "Missing a product Key? click here for more info" link.

I just received the key. :) Thanks for the head up OP!

EDIT: the OP's link should take you to the right page direct.

Or it's good info for people that purchased the game and couldn't figure out why their copy did not include a cd key, thereby making it unplayable.

He's saying that people can download the game and register it with the Key given out by Sega. Technically still illegal since you have pirated the game and paid nothing for the privilege of playing it. I get his point, but not everyone fits into that category. The program has a legit purpose.

I just can't do it. It's obviously not intended guys. It says, "Missing Product Key?" not "Free Product Key!".

Besides, I've been up on my soap box about this sort of thing for a few days now, it would be hypocritical to register.

Have fun with your game...I heard The Club was very...adequate.

I believe there are few members here that had expressed their view on the game and to sum it up: "An average gun game with average point system, worth a try but not the time".

No it's not! It's technically a FREE DEMO, and people are exploiting Sega's naivete/trust an getting something for nothing.
Neither of which is 'Pirating'. Seriously you hear a word and you think it means everything you find shadey? C'mon!

And it doesn't say "Lost Key" it say "Missing a Product Key Click Here for Info."
I'm missing one, never had one, but if it asks for one obviously that's missing. And then when they ask on the next page "Please enter your email address below to receive a product key for The Club." It doesn't ask if you had one or any verification information or even small print terms/conditions.

So seriously stop with the BS, it may be questionable, but at no point would it be illegal if Sega is just giving out the key. There isn't even lying involved/required in requesting the key, it is up to Sega to vet any request. Not for the requestor to question whether this is what they meant or not.

Perhaps, however it's not detailed anywhere in those stages, and for you to call it piracy is wrong, especially if you can't even post something that shows the supposed 'purpose'. How do you know it's not Viral marketing to increase it's presence in the communities? So you can't really show 'the purpose', all you can do is guess and assume. And I often get alot of things to play/test without paying anything for them, and they are give to me, so that doesn't constitute piracy either.

Stop throwing the word around if you don't know what it means, we already have enough DRM nannies out there without adding more who aren't being paid to be net cops.

Someone asking, "How do I crack" or "where can I get a key Sega won't give me one" would constitute a step towards what you're talking about.

Dude, simmer down and get off your high horse. If you'd read all the posts here you would see that I am not saying it is piracy, just pointing out that it can be used illegally with pirated copies of the game in order to register them as legit. Therevy skipping the whole Keygen process. Yes, I know how pirating a game works thank you very much. I don't need you to preach to me.

If you want to call a downloaded iso version of a game that's registered with a key meant to go to customers who did not recieve one with their purchase a "free demo", then you have some issues. I am neither attacking nor defending the practice, I just pointed out that yes, this program can and most likely will be abused for that purpose.

Raziel, either you have a language barrier or something but that second sentence is pretty clear what you're saying, both ILLEGAL and PIRATEd, and not as an aside as you open with the phrase Technically.

So really, what am I missing about your not saying it's piracy? I don't care what else it can be used for, my legally bought copies can be used for piracy, so really what's your point.

You obviously need someone to preach to you as you seem more than content to do the same to others from your DRM high horse. Hypocrite!

People get steamed because you and people like you help the Jerks who limit everyone else's freedoms, why didn't you simply ignore the thread if you don't like it, it doesn't violates the Terms of the forum, so why preach about Piracy?

I'm not really interested in this as I'm too busy trying to play 100 gigs worth of mame roms at the moment. I of course own all of the original machines but it's too hard on my electric bill to have them all plugged in at once.

What are you talking about? I never said I don't like this thread. If you look at the first page I thanked the OP and said I signed up. I am not defening DRM, you just randomly started attacking me after I answered someones question about how this could be used illegally. What is your malfunction?

AGAIN, I never attacked or defended piracy. Why you percieve me to be is beyond me.

Your example is not 'technically' illegal. The acts you describe are not themselves illegal, but you're saying they are without anything to back it up because 'you didn't pay for anything', which is based on what?

If I take my friend's copy and use the key, is that illegal?
I'd like you to show me the part of the EULA that covers this. So don't call it piracy unless you know, too many people are calling everything piracy which simply makes it worse on everyone else, whether that's you intention or not.

There isn't in every one, just the ones where you guys seem to like to post misinformation.

Simply put, show how it violates the EULA or else stop posting such things. You guys have this tendancy of defending the errors and not bothering ever correcting them.

PS, don't get all mad wokey because you're stuck in Ontario. :p

I'm not carrying on with that discussion. We have different definitions, so be it. It's over.

Does The Club support SLi? I recently got a laptop with two 8800m gtx's, but I don't have any games to take advantage of it yet.
