I have this:
Nvidia GeForce 8600GS 512mb
Intel Centrino Duo 2,0 ghz
Windows Vista Home Premium
3GB of RAM
But even with that I'm having serious problems with some games, for example, I should be able to run Halo 2 in high with an 1400x900 resolution, but just to open a menu it takes 30 seconds, it run with lots of lag and few FPS, even in Crysis it takes like 20 seconds to load the weapon customization menu, I mean, what's the problem with my notebook?
I've tried it all, installing new drivers, overclocking, but nothing works!
-
-
That's weird.
Have you checked your internal temperatures??? -
Reload.....
-
I doubt that's going to fix his problems if the problem is wiht ALL his games
-
Yes, but it is a pretty low temperature, so, yeah, it's really weird because I can't even overclock now, and I'm not sure if it's the processor but I mean, 90 seconds to load Crysis or 150 seconds to load Halo 2, I think I got some seriously sh*tty problem.
Also, when I try to open the map and obectives tab on Crysis it takes like 40 seconds to load, and the framerate goes down to 4.
Any other hint, I really need some help?
Besides, I've seen people playing Crysis or Unreal Tournament III with an 8600 GS in medium and high and they run well, but in my laptop they run horribly.
So, also, should I call HP? -
Overheated GPU, isn't that is common with NVidia GPU? The big NVidia announcement a few weeks ago?
-
I spent 1300 dollars on my Laptop and I don't want to sell it, I really want to play many games. -
Thats the infamous defective GPU. Well, "possibly", but in your case, it seems so. Call the people you got the laptop from, see what they can do. Try to get it replaced and try to squeeze an extended warranty out of it.
*Ooh and ouch, you overclocked it. Not the best idea in this case, especially if it's overheated. I would reset it to factory clocks so they don't pin the defect on you. -
So, normally I could play Crysis or Halo 2 with 10 second loading times?
-
Well I don't want to say yes but there are computers that run just fine but take a while to load, either because of low RAM available, background processes, slow hard-drive spindles, and tons of other software/hardware issues.
-
Have you tried 3DMark06 just to benchmark the system?
Or the Crysis GPU benchmark utility? -
-
I'll try them, but tomorrow I'll check the problem with a PC technician
-
First give us your full specs,
Update your driver from laptopvideo2go.com,
Switch your system to performance mode.
Also use HWmonitor form cpuid.com to monitor your temps while gaming.
Running atitools artifact scanner would also be helpfull. -
It probably just need a clean install..
-
If i were you i would definately give HP a ring. If not try resetting your laptop to its state of purchase as sometimes problems may arise in your software.
