Now that I've been sitting home doing nothing but playing games for 3 months, I'm almost out of games to play...
Here's what I've played so far:
Diablo II (that's how desperate I was)
Fable (played through two or three times)
Call of Duty 4 (still somewhat hooked on multiplayer)
Team Fortress 2 (lost interest very quickly)
Half Life 2 + episodes
Portal
Bioshock (lost interest, stopped half way, then started again, and couldn't get myself to finish it, it sucked)
Crysis (stopped after I started to get 10fps in alien's base)
Gears of War (played only once, don't see why I should play it again)
Medieval 2 Total War / Kingdoms (played SOOO many hours of this, started to get bored)
Need for Speed Carbon (couldn't win any of the valley duels)
Need for Speed Prostreet (still played this game for a long time even though the game was horrible)
Witcher & Oblivion (played a few months ago on friend's computer, hated both of them)
Warcraft II & III + expansion (loved it for a while, but then got old)
WoW (played for a day or two, but hated it)
Guild Wars (same as WoW)
Assassin's Creed (gave up half way into the game)
Grand Theft Auto series (play each and every one of them many times)
Age of Empires (played every single one in the series, including age of mythology)
Prince of Persia series (played and beat every single one of them, but once is enough, the frustration is unbearable sometimes)
UT series (played every single one of them, except only played UT3's demo)
All Tom Clancy games (every single one, and loved them all)
Grid (if oversteering is the size of NYC, and understeering is the size of LA, the region between the two is about the width of a local 1 lane street)
Titan Quest
Hitman series
But yeah, I'm out of games to play. So all I'm playing now is CoD4 multiplayer and watching the Olympics. Any recommendations for new games? (NO RTS GAMES)

If you can wait a month Spore will come out.
And there's no shame in playing Diablo II! Playing an assassin in that game is the best way to gradually master using hot keys. -

It's tough to explain, you'd best look it up on wikipedia. You basically control the evolution of a species from a single cell organism through to a galactic civilization. Each stage seems like a different game, which means that if the game play can live up to the concept it should be crazy good with tons of replay value.
And yeah, the graphics are really cartoony, but the game is pretty massive and they're aiming for a wide audience. -
The original Call of Duty, Battlefield 2, Halo: Combat Evolved, and any of the Brother's in Arms games.
By the way...shameless plug for a few of those games that I am selling here.

Mass effect?

how about a pickup game of basketball or soccer or football or baseball?
you could get GGPO or MAME and play arcade games like Street Fighter. but i suggest pickup games at a local park. -

maybe it's time to go out and embrace nature... naahh... who am I kidding...
(COD2 FTW!!!)
But seriously, check out some adventure games, like Longest Journey Dreamfall, Penumbra, Grim Fandango, etc... those games should take a good while to finish.
How about the Grand Theft Auto series? Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia series...
Check out gamespot's pc game list:

Kotor series, star wars battelfront 2, Dawn fo War: Dark Crusade/Soulstorm

First off it must be nice to spend 3+ months on gaming alone, but you should try some RTS like AOE games and Empire earth games. Im looking into some spartan game thats small unit based rather then build and raid.
-
I have the same playing style as you man. Cant play any old or games with crappy graphics, no matter how high they are rated.
Don't try Oblivion or those Brother In Arm games (my opinion). Horrible gameplay and buggy graphics (BIA)
Try
UT3
World In Conflict
Command and Conquer 3
Company of Heroes
Sins of a Solar Empire
FEAR
Max Payne 1+2 -

hahaha pickup lacrosse... dont get me wrong its my favorite sport but its probably the worst pickup sport... that may just be where im from though. very rare to find places where lax is life
-
Yeah OP, I'm in the same situation. About two weeks left of R&R and nothing to play. I started a thread like this a couple of weeks ago, and people actually recommended I get a girl. Funneh.
Anyways, try playing Grim Fandango if you haven't before. Loads of fun. Kept me in front of my computer for a while. -

You never responded to the Mass Effect suggestion... I would pick that, or S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Both seem like interesting games.
-
Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2
FEAR and expansion packs
Medal of Honor: Airborne
Assassin's Creed -

Pickup lacrosse is hard since if you want an actual game everyone has to go get their pads and helmets and stuff... and not many people play lacrosse after high school unless they're very serious about the sport.
And no Mass Effect, not really into sci-fi stuff. (which is why I gave up Crysis after I went into the alien's base and had to shoot floating ghasts, also why I'm not playing Gears of War again)
And also, I'm not really into war games, Call of Duty 4 is an exception because the gameplay, especially multiplayer, is very good. Rainbow Six series is ok, but not as good as CoD. -
Hmmm...
Oblivion
Mass Effect
Battlefield 2 or 2142
I know you said not RTS but these are good:
Sins of a Solar Empire
World in Conflict
C&C 3 -
Try Battlefield 2 with the Project Reality Mod, Silk Road Online, and CSS like the other guy said.
-
Sounds like the only 2 games you have left to play are Starcraft and Oregon Trail 2, you've played everything else.
-
wait for GTA IV in november
-
Stop playing games and spend time outside in the nature...
-
-
halo, halo 2? Counter Strike Source? Battle Feild 3142? ASll good games and fun!

Consider the following:
1) Rise of Nations (my favorite RTS of all time even today)
2) Sins of a Solar Empire (decent RTS, but requires shovelware called Impulse in order to get updates and very little multiplayer and play-worthy mod following due to bugs and poor documentation by the developers)
3) Ratchet and Clank, and sequels Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal (PS2 games I had originally overlooked because I thought they were generic platformers...they're actually a blast...literally)
4) Ace Combat series (PS2 games...4 and 5 were brilliant...4, in particular, has the best dogfight in the series over a rocket launch platform set on tropical islands. A Tomcat on this map is thrilling)
5) Star Wars Empire at War (I thought this RTS would suck, but it really surprised me especially if you run one of the many mods available for it. This vanilla game is very limited)
6) Scarface: the World is Yours (decent GTA knockoff...not as expansive or entertaining as GTA since the cops insta-kill you if you **** them off and don't disappear fast enough, but still a good play through story mode)
Avoid the following:
1) UT3 (I was sooo excited for this game, got right into making maps, and then realized it was a complete piece of ****, literally - it's even got the same colors with some plastic wrapping...game isn't even remotely fun and the AI is worse than it was in UT2004)
2) Rise of Legends (shallow and abysmal, sorry)
3) World in Conflict (I liked this...for the first few days. It's the same game over and over and over again so I don't know why I bought it now. It's very shallow) -
Play Rappelz, its a free MMORPG from gpotato

I loved Mass Effect but couldn't get into S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
The controls are a PITA! -

stop playing so many games and go outside!

If you want to play the really good games we have to ditch this aversion to 'bad graphics'.
It's time to go cold turkey, my friend: You want to play Zork.
No graphics at all. Just you, some descriptive text and a parser. May the Grues have mercy on your soul. -

Played DMC4 as well, made a thread about it too a while ago.

You should try playing diablo 2 minus the Expansion Pack multiplayer.

Dude, maybe you should get checked for ADD and get some meds or something. It sounds to me like it's not the games, but the gamer.

Not the 1.6 version -
Play WoW for more than a day

Or you could wait for 2 more weeks and then you could get S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (1st review out!
Look below) & Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, which should both be good imo.
