    Hi..

I'm trying to set a higher resolution on this laptop but when I check

    Right-click on desktop > Properties > Settings

1280x800 is already the highest option there... can I set it any higher?

    The VidCard is a Intel 965 X3100.
    Running on Win XP SP2.

    Thanks alot.

Guess that's the highest resolution for your screen :)
    Welcome to NBR! :D
On a side note, you should also get XP SP3 ;)

If you want more space then go into the Advanced settings and, on the Monitor tab, deselect "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display". That should enable a greater range of resolutions on the monitor slider.

@john, Oh didn't know that such option exists. If I uncheck that, is there a possibility that I'll get problems, software/hardware..

your computer may just blow up/melt/ never work again.

altho i really doubt your monitor has any higher settings than that it it doesnt show up in control panel. regardless

sounds like a standard res for all notebooks atm (ecept gamers obviously).

No , you won`t have problems. You`ll just get to select more resolution options, which may not maintain the aspect ratio of the monitor, providing stretched images...
