    Setting Intel GMA950 Video Memory

    Anyone know how to set the Shared Memory of Intel GMA950??
    its at 10mb right now but MAXIMUM is 128mb , i'd like to change it to 128mb

    i believe the GMA has "dynamic" memory... meaning it will allocate what it needs for the specific application. For instance, while browsing the net, the GMA would only allocate 10mb, but while playing SimCity4, the GMA would allocate 128mb automatically.

    From what i understand, there is no way to specify exactly how much memory to use.

    BankBen is correct...it takes only what it needs to do the current job.

    And is it possible to somehow set the maximum size of the used memory?

    I had a GMA950 in my notebook and during the normal work in Vista with Aero on, the allocation was around the limit of the card (more than 200MB) which is rather stupid.

    Now I'm waiting for the notebook with integrated X3100 and I don't want to let steal this card 384MB from my precious RAM.

    I'm guessing that turning off the Aero should do the job, but currently I can't test it.

    Is there anyone around who can test the memory consuption of the integrated Intel graphic cards with Aero on and off?
