I am trying to get my laptop-connected-CRT to refresh at 120Hz or 150Hz

I can connect the CRT and have it display with no problems, but the only refresh rates listed in Nvidia's control panel are LCD ones, such as 60, 65, and 75Hz. Despite testing and creating my own custom resolution (similar to Gohpn's guide, except there are settings in that guide that no longer apply to the newer drivers), the Nvidia drivers seem to completely ignore the refresh rate. I've tried this with both 186.03 and 186.86:
Nvidia control panel -> Manage custom resolutions -> Check "Allow modes...", select Create, specify resolution (i.e 1024x768) and GDI=120Hz. I click "Test" and it seems everything went fine: it switches to 1024x768, but there's that forsaken 60Hz again. No matter what I do I cannot get it to run at the refresh rate I specify.

Is this a bug in the control panel or am I doing it wrong?
