I just want to be sure that the Radeon 6990M/i7 2670QM/8GB RAM combo can play shogun 2 total war and it's standalone expansion, fall of the samurai when it comes out at least at a medium setting. I heard that it can run on ultra and I just wanted to be sure, dice this will probably be the most demanding game I play on my NP8150 until the next total war game. Isn't the standalone going to have the same SR as the regular as well? Thanks for the assistance.

Really? It doesn't seem like it. The engine has a different feel for each game for me at least. Oh well. Thanks!

Definitely they improve little bit, but as long as the engine is the same (even the version of engine is the same since empire) then it will be similar in performance, for example, modern warfare is using pretty much the same thing since MW1 and it looks the same, performs the same :)

It is indeed the same engine. check twcenter.net forums for more details regarding the total war series.

anyway warscape is the best strategy game engine up to date, when you max graphics (it is a bigger challenge than BF3 maxed) you get ~15-20 fps with 580m, and a little bit lower than max still looks awesome :)

so if i just keep AA at a minimum and turn down particle effects and what not, i can still get a pretty good performance?

When does anybody think the next gen CPU and GPU will be available? Will it be worth the wait, or should I wait for a certain combo to available? And also it seems that the next gen gaming laptops are on there way, so when will that happen? Just wondering, cause I can't wait to get rid of my stupid old laptop that sucks.

O rly? is it worth it? cause i have only a 2 year old Gateway NV52, i can barely bring up this website its so bad lol. nahhhh jk im gonna wait, i need to wait for Shogun2 and its expansions price to drop first. my dad keeps telling me to get a series of mediocre laptops, but i told him i might as well burn money for the next 5 years.
