Okay well after doing some reading I have seen that KoToR II with Vista can be a pain and it can me hit or miss, you can fix it and it will run fine or you can try and fix it and it still wont run. I really want to play it, but I don'r want to go out and pay $20 to find the game doesn't work and then have to send it back (and itll be a hassle because I am going away to school in 2 weeks).

So I am interested in your input, I really want to play it, but I am not sure I want to put up with the trouble of getting it to work.

Systems Specs in Sig if needed for some reason.

    KOTOR 1 & 2 are fantastic games.

Unfortunately, the Sith Lords has so many bugs that it's almost unbelievable, at least when I play it on Vista.

First it just wouldn't start at all (unless I get lucky). Then I replaced the sound DLL file with a Vista compatible one from the Lucasarts forums. After that, it would start properly, but now I get the most horrendous stuttering.

LucasArts has said that they won't patch the Sith Lords to run on Vista. I guess they just don't care anymore.

If you really want to play it, take narsail's advice and dual-boot XP. :D

First, I only got it to run once on my Vista laptop..........storyline was great, graphics are a joke though............I wouldn't waste more than $5 on it, but it used and call it good.

I, for one was disappointed with KotOR II, despite loving the original KotOR and Mass Effect.

As far as the game goes, if you enjoyed KOTOR, you'll like KOTOR II.

You can get it to run on Vista as noted; I know some people have run it flawlessly.

Do you have a friend or neighbor that has it and would let you borrow it?

KOTOR II is simply fantastic. It's like comparing The Godfather II to the original Godfather. They're both epic.

Some people suffered bugs but I experienced zero and it was a fantastic experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's a must buy for an Action RPG fan.

    I wish I did but I don't.

And I am going out to Best Buy today to buy KoToR II or The Orange Box, so any thoughts on that? I guess it'll come down to whichever they have and whichever is cheaper.

Okay thank you everyone, we'll have to wait and see what I find at the local best buy when I get there. I could always wait until next summer and get KoToR II for dirt cheap for my Xbox 360 (Id go get it right now for 360 but I'l be going away to school anddont want to pay for a game I wont even be able to play for more than 2 weeks.)

Yes, and I think thats what may have me sold on it, I've played part of HL2 but I didn't finish it so I have that to play plus I've never played the two episodes and portal looks like a lot of fun, I've played a flash game sort of like it and Team Fortress 2 is something new and looks pretty fun because I love online shooters.

I think it 'll end up being orange box for me.

do yourself a big favour and go buy the orange box....you won't regret it.
you get HL2 and it's two episodes and that's about 24-30 hours of the highest quality of FPS single-player action that can be found on the market...you also get Team fortress 2 which is one of the best multiplayer games ever!, and then comesPortal, considered by many as one of the most unique games ever and i personally think it's worth buying the OB just to play portal!!, it's that good..
