Skyrim is $40 on Steam now, but I want to get it when it's $20 to $30 most. How long would it take for that to happen?
Like Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Fallout New Vegas - how fast did it take them to drop from $50 to $20 ... 8 months to a year? What do you remember?
I have so many other games to play besides Skyrim, like Battlefield 3, La Noire, Mafia 2 + all DLCs, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Total War Shogun 2, Far Cry 2, Just Cause 2, Black Ops, etc...
But I have the "test" version of Skyrim and I'm not enthusiastic about the game. Had more fun playing Fable 3 instead.

Maybe next christmas sale to get it that low Baka thinks. Eitherway, Skyrim is worth the $40 right now ._. But then again InspiredE1705 doesn't like the "test" version so Baka suggests waiting. There are plenty of sales throughout the year anyway
-
I would get it right now, I doubt that Skyrim will be going down in price for a very long time... and it's not worth the wait for a game like this
-
InspiredE1705 Notebook Evangelist
Well, when Oblivion and Morrowind came out weren't they hot titles for Bethesda too and how quickly did they drop in price? I guess that was a very long time ago so it'd be hard to remember.
Oblivion and Morrowind were both too big for me too and I never finished them, both. And I like the combat action in Batman and Fable 3 better than Skyrim's combat.
Is there a Steam Spring Sale? Skyrim might pop up again in a Steam Spring and Summer Sale too... I can wait till then. -
I'm waiting, I have 10+ other games (including Oblivion) to keep me busy.
-
It's very tempting to buy it right now but, even at a discount I don't have time to play it for a while. Life + current game backlog + I'm out of HDD space again... by the time I'll have time to sink into it, it will be on sale again.
I would say wait if you're in the same or similar boat as me, it WILL be on sale again throughout the year, bethesda is very good about sales unlike certain companies. But it will be at march before the next sale, so it's pretty much either now or wait 2-3 months. -

Yeah, I can wait until March or summer... I have a big backlog of games to conquer. Some purchases of games I regret buying too early, like Mass Effect 2 for $17 and Shogun 2 for $33 - didn't play them until 6 to 7 months later and then they got way cheaper - like $5 to $8 or so.
I can be happy with my "test" version for awhile...
Same with Rage... I'm waiting until it's $7.50 to $10 too.
Right now I have about 165 Steam Games and I dedicated a whole 2 TB hd partition [max Win 7 partition size] to my Steam Games! Still have 1 TB left!
I haven't advanced up a level or killed a Dragon yet but I'm not so enthusiastic about Skyrim. To me it's just a better Oblivion but it's graphics suck. Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City and Fable 3 have better graphics than Skyrim. -
Long enough for you to lose interest in it anymore.
That's the whole reason games go on sale, the game loses its player base or a holiday sale. -

My advice would be to jump on that $40 price. That's about as cheap as it will be for quite some time.
And it's probably one of the greatest values out there in terms of hours of entertainment.
Otherwise you would probably be looking at the Quakecon sale in August.
I don't quite follow. Do you mean to say that you have pirated the game? If you genuinely don't like it, why even consider it for purchase? -
I would just get it now. The game is barely over a month old, and it's unlikely that it will be on such a significant sale again any time soon. You don't have to download and play it as soon as you purchase it; once you buy it you can either download and install it, or leave it until you want to. It will never be removed from your account for inactivity. And Skyrim is an awesome game, well worth the full $60 price, let alone $40.

I am in the same boat. Here is my current game backlog...
Crysis 2 (got for free bc EA disabled my Warhead copy)
DA: Origins Ultimate $15
Arkham Asylum $8 (last xmas)
CoD: MW3 $25
StarCraft 2 $35
Witcher 2 $15
Fallout New Vegas & DLC $25 (last Xmas), now is $10
Rome Total War and all assiciated games $12
Mass Effect 1 $5
ME2 $5
Borderlands GotY $19 (last Xmas), now is $8
Alien vs Predator $8
and I think I will buy Company Of Heros today for $2
I am thinking this is at least 2 years worth of games. Last year I did Crysis, Fallout 3 &DLC, Civ5, and CoD:BO.
Timing games is tough. I would love to get Skyrim, but since I have FO:New Vegas, Dragon Age, and the Witcher, I think I can wait until next Christmas for Skyrim. Plus there should be some DLC by then on sale also. -

Buy the whole Company of Heroes Pack, it's a good game! Just played the first two missions and it took the whole morning! Seems there will be a lot of gameplay in it!
For awhile, I got tired of FPS like Black Ops and Battlefield 3. Maybe even RPCs like Mass Effect 2 and Skyrim...
My current rage is my Batman Arkham games but Company of Heroes and Shogun 2 might pickup with me. Have to start The Witcher 2 and Torchlight.
So I'm gambling for a wait until Summer 2012 to get Skyrim. I have a whole lotta games right now that are keeping me interested! -
listen to us and buy skyrim asap

If you can wait until August, it will most likely be on sale at that time as part of Bethesda's yearly Quakecon package.
It will probably include Skyrim and any Skyrim DLC released at that point, as well as RAGE + DLC, New Vegas GOTY, Fallout 3 GOTY, Oblivion GOTY, Morrowind GOTY, Brink, Hunted, Call of Cthulu Dark Corners of the Earth, plus about 20-30 additional DOOM and Quake games. The total price will probably be around $50 or so. -
make a quick rain check. to the OP if you want to play it now, then buy it now, if you don't plan of playing it (if you play other games) then buy later. that's what i do. buy only the games that you will really play after.

It's too late now... I passed up the Steam Deal... I can wait for March or the next Steam Summer Sale for it... I have about 164 Steam games + about 30 non Steam games on my desktop. If I did buy Skyrim I feel like it just another Oblivion and Oblivion was just too big and massive for me and I got bored of out. I'm last lost in a dungeon in Oblivion.
Instead, I bought IL -2 Cliffs of Dover which was on my wishlist. I had a "test" version of this game and it was worth the $16.99 I paid for it.
Right not Skyrim probably still has too many bugs and isn't optimized. -
I will hope for it to go on sale before March so I can apply my 33% off Bethesda coupon.
-
You know the game works on your system. You're contemplating playing your "test" version (we all know what that means) for several months or maybe even a year. Either be a man (or a woman if you're female) and pay for what you're playing, or uninstall it. If you don't want to pay for it until fall 2012, don't play it until fall 2012. I can't believe you're playing the game within a month of its release and contemplating "buying" it a year or so later when it's $19 and you don't see anything wrong with that.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
it was sort of available for ~$25 yesterday... it was technically on sale for $40, but there were additional coupons for 50% off floating around up for trade
-
Fairly certain those are only redeemable starting Jan 2nd.

I have to agree with Mitlov.
I don't completely understand the point of this thread - if you have already played a pirated copy of Skyrim and you simply don't like the game, why even consider buying it all?
On the other hand, perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you mean by this "test" copy business. If you have never played Skyrim and you are asking for feedback from those of us who have played it, of course, that is an entirely different matter, in which case it seems most of those who responded seem to be saying it is definitely worth it.
Even at $60 it would seem to be a far better value in terms of cost for enjoyable hours of entertainment than any other game I've ever played. (Well, maybe except for TF2 which was free.) -
$40 bucks for skyrim? get it... what are you waiting for..
Should I Wait to Buy Skyrim?
