I've played almost all Tom Clancy games, and I really want to try Double Agent, but I'm having some questions and doubts...

Is my computer able to run the game on high setting?
Are there patches to fix numerous number of bugs in the game?

    Thanks in advance!

Your computer can handle SCDA well @ 1024x768(It work well on my 5920).Make sure to install latest patch & remember to OC your VGA card .

    How is the multiplayer?

Do I have to overclock the card to get good performance? I don't want to risk damaging it =(

"Multiplayer" Same as single player & don't worry about game performance :D

BTW overclocking will not kill your card unless you dnt keep it @ safe levels

Might want to rephrase that mate.... "until you keep it @ safe levels", implies that it will kill the card if kept at a safe level lol.

I think you meant "unless you dont keep it at safe levels"

Hmm... I think OC is a bit too much for my intelligence :(

And in multiplayer, do you just try to snipe each other?

Splinter Cell has a very unique multiplayer of spies v. mercenaries.

rather no - it depends how you play. my "team" prefers to use sneaking behind and using knives :D but you can always encounter many "snipers" and even some "rambo" style players :D

What's got me worried is that my computer (see sig for specs) can only run Rainbow Six Vegas on medium on 800x600, and it still freezes sometimes. Is Double Agent better-rendered than Vegas?

Erm.. Rainbow six vegas.. If you ask me that dosnt sound like a too demanding game.. a 8600GT is a very nice card.. You should easily be able to play it @ good rates.!

For some reason I can't... I can only run the game smoothly at lowest resolution and medium settings on other stuff.

with the specs you have there should be no problem at all. heck, one Q - what drivers you have there? check other threads for best driver out there... the problem with r6v may lie in the old drivers.

cheers, your fellow splinter cell fan :D

    Too much misinformation here.

The reason Rainbow Six: Vegas works like crap is because it's an absolutely horrid port. One of the worst ever.

Double Agent will run like it does on the XBOX 360.

What OS are you running? Double Agent tends to be hit-and-miss for Vista. It won't run on my G1s, for example.

I'm using 32 bit Vista Home Basic... I tried the demo a long time ago, I don't remember anything major being wrong with it.

I don't see where you're coming from. All the weapons stayed pretty consistent throughout the series. Every game had the sticky shocker, and the airfoil round. With Chaos Theory, they removed the huge scope on the SC-20K and introduced the sniper rifle and shotgun add-on.

The demo worked fine for me as well, it had something to do with the cd encryption.
