Should I get BC2 for PC?

I already have BC2 for PS3, but looking at the fact that the PC version has 32 players, better controls and NBR members, I think I should. KZ3 is still on order, and perhaps comes tomorrow, so, should I get BC2 for PC to feed my need for Battlefield until BF3, or Crysis 2? I think 34.95€ for BC2+vietnam expansion is a good deal ( EA store ).

    So, yes or no?

YES. You will rage about the hit detection problems, but if you optimize your computer for BC2, you will have one of the best experiences in your life in terms of FPS. My friend bought me this game over a year ago, and I"m still playing. The teamwork is just incredible. Tank rushes GO.

Dont' get it from the EA store. I regret doing that. Get it off steam. It's I believe 35 dollars in total in Steam for both games.

Looks like your laptop has the i7 Quad? You should be okay in that department I play it on my G50 and with the cpu beeing the bottleneck clocked around 3.1Ghz atm I can still play 30 to 60 fps online with all settings max'd except AA.

The 5730 should hold up very well as well. I would say go for it I love playing it online. I only played the original on PS3.

Why do you regret getting it through the EA store? BC2+vietnam for 34.95€ is better than 52.98€ from steam ( BC2 is 39.99€ and vietnam is 12.99€ ). Would you care to elaborate?

Sucks how much your gonna have to pay. I bought it for 16 bucks USD in retail packaging off Amazon. Same price as the download version. Sells retail here for 20.

Yep, I have the i7 720QM. According to NBCheck, with all settings maxed, 8xAF and 4xAA at 1080p, I should get 16.3 FPS, with old drivers. Without AA and HBAO I guess I will get around 40 FPS.

I just got loads of money off of a piano concert I did, so I have enough :)

As I said, I have enough money to buy all the games I want this year (R3, UC3, BF3, maybe Crysis 2, Portal 2 ), so buying BC2 isn't a prob.

It's just the fact that I can't talk to my Steam friends while playing it. If you use Steam extensively, then you're going to want it on Steam. I also dislike the EA download manager. It's just messy imo, and it took me ages to activate Vietnam, as something went wrong with the activation.

Steam is just more user friendly in general.

Why not add the EA-bought game to "Non-Steam games"? It would be the same basically...

I kinda wanted to get this, but I dont need another game to screw up my semester :p. I was thinking of getting this in the summer while i work. Would it be worth it in May or should I just hold out for Bf3?

    Specs in sig.

I personally believe BF2 to be the best FPS game ever created, however if you happen to deal with EA support, you'll never want to buy an EA product again.

    Go for it.

I haven't used the EADM, so I can't comment on that, but you can still add the .exe as a non-Steam game to Steam and thus be able to use the overlay for chat and stuff.

It's a very fun game, and your laptop should handle it fine.

And make sure you disable HBAO. You can't really even see the difference if you're not specifically looking for it, and it easily knocks a good 10 to 20 fps off your frame rate.

I've had a rough time dealing with some of EA's software (like the junky ea download system that has had constant major construction and policy changes)

but- EA support has been really helpful for me also.

BFBC2 --> My feedback... Well... So... Um... Sigh...

THE BEST FPS MADE TO DATE!

    PERIOD!

Buy it. Give yourself some time to adjust and get used to the physics. Then kiss your appreciation for BAD FPS shooters like Black Ops GOODBYE!

I'm getting Bad Company 2 too, but only because shops here are giving away a free retail copy with Crysis 2 :)
$40 for retail Crysis 2+Bad Company 2 is not bad imo :p

I'm of the opinion its the best multiplayer FPS that exists, and that it's worth the $20 USD asking price.

It's a really fun game when I don't have to deal (too much) with hit reg or rubberbanding. I'd still be playing BC2, but I barely get any good ping servers in the weekdays and I'm doing other things in the weekend. Since it's just taking up space on my HD, I uninstalled it. If I ever travel/move to the continental US, I'll install it again I suppose - unless BF3's out by then.

Holy Moly, this game is SOOOOO MUCH BETTER IN PC than in console. I mean, why the heck you say "hit reg probs"? Until now, I played on PS3 = probs; switched to PC = 0 probs. All my bullets hit the target, and killed in due nº of bullets. Yay! :D

Add my EA ID : Phistachio

Rubber banding only happens when u or the server has connection problems like dropped packets. Hit registering is usually more lag than anything. Server i play on when my wireless isnt getting pissy no problems for me. High ping for me servers will give me issues.

Hit reg issues are hit or miss (pun intended) really. I can have low ping and still empty a clip into someone's head and they still keep coming.

    ^this.

I seem to find that Nuclearfallout servers have much better hit registration than others.
