Hey everyone,
Just a quick question, I never finished Bioshock 1, will I not understand a lot of things from Bioshock 2 or will it not matter?
Another question, I'm currently using GPU-Z to monitor my GPU temps, but running it every time I turn on my computer is a hassle. Is there another program that monitors GPU (and preferably CPU, HDD, RAM, etc as well) temp but autoruns when Windows starts?
Thanks

Finish the first game( it's great) but I don't think you need a background story to enjoy the 2nd.
Enabling GPU-Z is a hassle....seriously, two clicks and it's done, I don't see a problem. -

I couldn't bring myself to finish the first one... I tried it twice...
And enabling GPU-Z is a hassle, because I have to do it every time I turn on my computer, and sometimes I don't remember.. -
Put a GPU-Z shortcut in your startup folder.
And so far it doesn't seem like you need to know much if anything about the first Bioshock to play the second. -
HWMonitor will tell you temps on all your stuff, personally I use both that and GPU-Z when testing or monitoring... I like GPU-Z because it shows the clock rates.
-
HWMonitor, and put it on your startup folder or set it up a scheduled task.
-
HWmonitor yes, and if you haven't played the first Bioshock, I suggest playing that first and maybe by the time you finish it, Bioshock 2 will be on sale somewhere. Seriously, no need to play the 2nd if you can play the first which from all accounts is a better game. And cheaper at this point =) Don't get me wrong though, I have Bioshock 2, just can't play it yet. But the first is an amazing game.

By the time you finish the first game, hopefullly they'll fix the widescreen debacle with the second game.

i dont understand why people like bioshock
-
Same, was not a fan of the first one. I may give the second one a try, we will see.
-
yes you should

It's not your standard run and gun shooter. It's a slow paced action game with a great story. Suits me perfectly. I've never been real great at FPS games, although enjoy them. Bioshock lets me take my time and explore and not have to have super quick reaction skills. Bioshock 2 is more of an FPS, although retains most of the elements of the original, so it should appeal to more FPS fans. But you really should listen to all the tape recordings along the way and the story because it is quite good.

I wasn't captured by the story either. And the shooting aspect felt gimpy. It wasn't very satisfying unloading round after round right into a AI's face and not affect.

I didn't like the first one's story either, hopefully the second one will be more well-structured.
And how do I put something in the startup folder? -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
This is like saying "I didn't like Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark and hope Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will redeem the series", lmao!
Dude the story of the first game is gaming legend status. The narrative is 80% the reason to play the game. If you want a straight ahead no mystery shoot fest then yes, Bioshock 2 will give what you ask like just about any generic FPS you can buy for likely a lot less. Imo, you completely miss the point of the series.

I bought the first one when it first came out and I played about 2 hours worth and sold it. I then just recently got it again via Steam for $5 on sale. So I figure I'll try it again, so fare I'm about 30 minutes into it.
I'm going to not buy the second one until I finish the first - IF I ever finish it.. I'm just not into it.
As for hardware monitoring... Don't obsess about it unless you have an issue. If it's all stock and kept clean just enjoy the machine and stop worrying about it. If at some point an issue arises then look into it. If you really must keep tabs on it, use Everest Ultimate and it's Vista/7 Side Bar widget. -
Agreed. Their is soo much going on in the story -- Randian philosophy, mixed in with some dystopia + underwater world + guns = amazingsauce.
Seriously though it really is one of the best PC games, ever. -

I heard the stories are structured differently. In the second game you're trying to rescue Eleanor (from the 5 minutes I played); in the first game I'm not sure what I was trying to do after having played about 5 or 6 hours.

I got it last night, and I've been playing since - 8 hours (just got off to check out the tracking status of something I bought, and to troll around on the NBR forums, jk).
I like it better than the first one.
And the water, oh the water... -
This game looks interesting but I want a game that's long with a good story. I never played the first one cause it didn't appeal to me but, the gameplay looks fun so I might consider it.
-
I like the fact that your a Big Daddy in this one, I am very impressed so far, and I may actually finish it.
-
Loved the first one but im skipping the 2nd do to money problems.
Im going to spend my mad money on Bad Company 2.These days I just cant go out and buy all the games I want
-
didnt the first one had that drm thing everyone was complainging about?
is it present in bioshock 2? -

I just picked up the second one, it's entirely different from the first one. Although there are references to Andrew Ryan, whom was from the Bioshock 1, they are not crucial to understanding the plot.
And I love the new hacking system, and how you can have a weapon and a plasmid.
Should I get Bioshock 2?
