I just can't decide! I need your help!
The reviews at metacritic aren't very convincing TBH, but stevenx and HTwing seem to like it.
I need more opinions! Is it worth it? Or should I get LA Noire and Portal 2?
Thanks!![]()
Also, should I get EA version or Steam version? EA includes Crysis 1 for free, so...

The irony of the thread starter for "Crysis 2 tweaks" when all "experience" was based on the official demo...
Going by previous posts, FPS games seem to be a particular favourite. Why not wait until the game is released on sale and then pick it up when funds are flush? -

Gametrailers.com, by far the best reviewers IMO... and I'd say if you haven't played crysis 1 yet than its definitely worth the price of the single game. Both are pretty fun games and have lengthy single player ~15 hours which is HUGE for a FPS. Although I myself put my buys in categories.... single player only games have to be huge like 30-40 hour plus games, if they have really good multiplayer then the single player can be less than 10 hours for all I care. so honestly what it comes down to is, do you think you would play the multiplayer on crysis 2 enough for it to be worth it?
-
If you can get Crysis 1 for free and have never played it, excellent deal. Although IMHO you'd probably get more bang for your buck with Portal 2 if you had to choose between the two. But that's just me.
Personally I could care less about Crysis 2 multiplayer. The demo was boring. I will probably just give it a go since I have it, but I'm certain it will not appeal to me. -
-
Just wait for the DX11 and 64 bit patch. If those are released and the optimizations are results are good, then I would buy.
If not, then just wait for the bargain bin. -
My main needs are nice graphics, addictive and fun MP and SP. But most important of all is that it must have good gameplay.
So, according to these "requirements", should I get it? -
Get the game. Get EA version for Crysis 1. Play it, get used to it in 10mins and you will get addicted.
Crysis met the requirement specially the GOOD GAMEPLAY. You can't rely on the Multiplayer but SP and the gameplay is at its best.
Graphics is topnotch. -
-
just get it.

In the end its just another fps. I bought like 3-4 fps games after i got my new notebook, i played one after another and i just couldnt push myself after few days. Its all pretty much the same shooting...
I really enjoyed Dragon age 2 though after i got used to it. -
I buy FPS that are fun in MP. If it is fun and addictive an has good gameplay mechanics, I will buy. But I just need an "outside" opinion.
-
but if you get it, let us know how the single player is... I don't do MP...
-
From the 45 minutes in mutiplayer on my friends pc if you're a fan of call of duty games then the mutiplayer is for you! if you enjoyed warhead's crysis wars then skip the game completely it is not worth it
-
Also, I like CoD's style, aka non stop fast paced action. But I hate cod. -

Ps : I dislike cod too. -
LOL!
Also, it's not BFBC3, it's BF3, the real sequel to BF2. -

I am really enjoying the SP game. I wont have much time for it today. I noticed that I updated the system.cfg file and it really didn't make much a performance difference. I benched and got a few screenshots and the fps was about the same. The biggest difference (about 5 fps) was overclocking my card from stock -800/1000. I am playing at extreme with edge AA disabled and SSAO disabled. I also use Radeon Pro to tweak a couple of other items.
Good Luck,

i cancelled my preorder after the disappointing demo...

I really like this game so far. Now my only recent experience with FPS' is with COD MW and Bulletstorm (don't get me started on what a waste of $$ Bulletstorm is) but the nanosuit adds a dimension in multiplayer FPS that separates it from the other games.
Single player is fun also. It "feels" like a mix of metal gear and COD. -
I spent about 4 hours last night on the single player and i would highly recommend that you buy it! I was a bit disappointed in demo as well, but took the gamble and all I can say is wow! I'm very glad that i bought it and will recommend it all day long!

But some suit modes are really dominating and can give starters a hard time.
-
Ok, SP seems a 9/10 or 10/10.
What about MP? From 0 to 10.
Well, I'm not of those noobs who are reaaaaally bad at a game at the beginning. I only need a couple of minutes to adapt to a game, and then I pwn! -

I think of it as more of a hybrid between CoD and Halo. -
In the beginning there were some stealth parts that reminded me of metal gear solid. I could have just went guns blazing which might have changed my perception. Since I only just begun the campaign, it's possible that my perception will change. -

The part where he says the multi-player is too chaotic.... the developer stated that they made the levels that way on purpose, they were tired of the same strategies being used over and over again. People using the same camping locations, same entrances, same overall tactics... thats why they "hope" that the combinations of the suits and level design would lead to a game that leaves many options for players when assaulting, defending, securing objectives... I really think crysis took the next step in video game evolution, they didn't do it all that great. but the fact many games are following is a good thing. When people play multi-player we like to see player skill, not who can get to the sniper roost first, who can lay the first claymore, or who can camp that spot the best.
Watch the crysis 2 review on http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-crysis-2/712015 he explains what I'm trying to convey in more detail.
EDIT: the part about the multiplayer starts at 3:12 if you don't really care to watch the review.. -

I got the game, so far I've been having a great time playing the SP.
-
All I want to know is how good the MP is... Because I'm mainly a MP guy. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Right there with you Phistachio, of course I also love my oblivions, fallouts, dragon ages etc.

TONS of errors being reported by users including me with regards to the MP. For one, I can't find any sub-100 ping servers and attempting to join ANY populated server results in a "CD-KEY IN USE" error. I'm not the only one experiencing these problems, check the MyCrysis forums...
Not good Crytek, not good. I'm mainly a MP guy too... -

Usa PAtriot.. do yourself a favor. Log into mp and enter your key. Find an empty server and connect to it first. stay on the empty match the whole time. Wait till it ends and then log out. Then log back in, enter your mp key and voila.. .you can now enter any match.

So, is it good idea to buy now? Because EA is running a promotion where you get Crysis 2 and Crysis 1 for free...

USA patriot - the matches start. Just look for something other than ranked.
It worked for me so I am living proof. My post in steam forums was a huge rant. Someone gave me the suggestion and it worked.
Just give it a try... -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
It worked, as long as the server is unranked which means you won't rank up or gain XP points.
Anyways, my initial thoughts are that the multiplayer is dumbed down and sped up for the consoles. Suit abilities are far overpowered due to the fact that it recharges too quick.
Everyone is just running and gunning around like COD... -
According this review they play Crysis 2 at maximum on a laptop with i7 720 and 5870 with 30fps...not bad

i7 920 @ 4GHz and 5870 (desktop) here and run it at 42FPS AVG at 1920x1200 maxed.

Barrowed my friends steam account for the weekend to play some single player.... played it for a hour... then promptly uninstalled it.... this is not the crysis i have came to know and love.... I am truly sorry for anyone who bought this game
-
I'm just buying it coz i can get it for $20! hehe
U said u were choosing between LA noire n Crysis 2? I'd say wait for LA Noire if u really hv to choose.. at least it'll be somethin different n knowing Rockstar u'll probably get plenty of gameplay time..
if u hv shooters then just stick to those n wait for LA Noire n BF3 -
Ya if I were to buy it a forum member here owns a store that does exactly the same way you got it

HI,
ANy sager NP8150 owners with the GTX cards out there?? Can such an owner (who will most probably purchase crysisII) let us know if you can max out CRYSIS II??
So, can you max out the game or what?? let us know here. Thanks. -
Finding benchmarks for the 485M is easy. It's a full GF104 part. Look for GTX 460 Desktop benchmarks. The 485M should match those. So no need to ask 485M users since there are thousands of 460 users, but probably only a handful of 485M users.
-
mountainlifter_k Notebook Consultant
That clears up a major condition in my decision to buy the Sager NP8150.
If i may request, could you clarify some points for me:
1."It's a full GF104 part" : By this you mean that all 512 CUDA cores are used on the 485M right?? like the desktop GTX460??
2.what is " DOF/AO."??
Thanks in advance -
DOF Depth of Field, AO Ambient Occlusion. DX11 provides hardware acceleration on these. Frankly even the GTX 485M likely will struggle with these two on with DX11 features, but playable. Laptop parts just aren't powerful enough. Some of the DX11 features you will likely need a deskto HD6870 or GTX 560 at minimum.
There is no magic cure to the limits of laptops, power, heat, etc. This is something you just have to suck up, or don't buy a laptop gaming machine and build a desktop. -
mountainlifter_k Notebook Consultant
I read sometime back this sentence on notebookcheck: "Other than the GeForce GTX 480M, the 485M is no longer based on a trimmed down GF100 chip, but on the related GF104, which is designed for the consumer sector and has 385 cores if completely ......."
I got the numbers mixed up and said 512, thats all really.
I know i can build a desktop gaming rig. But i need a laptop for work and i don't want to buy the two things separate.
PLUS, i have always wanted a rig to play crysis and this is the first time i have enough money to buy one. So, thats why i said that this is a decision maker for me.
Thanks for the info on AO and DOF. -
