Hey, need you guy's help. Recently started the fall out 3 anticipation thread, and on it people were discussing the game's possible steep hardware requirements.

Im definately going to get the game. Its just that now I have a xbox 360 and a 40inch lcd hd tv, im not so sure about getting this game on pc anymore.

If I do decide to get it on PC, im not sure if I'll be able to run it as well as the xbox 360 version. In that case, it'll totally not be worth it.

    My rig is:

    1200x800
    2.2ghz dual core
    8600m gt ddr3 overclocked to 675/1450/875
    3gb ram
    vista sp1

So what do you guys think, with specs like this, pc version or xbox 360 version.
If its possible to run this game and have it look better on the pc, I'll consider getting the pc version again!

    Thanks.

can you wait a few days after the release for some reviews? or do you just have to pre-order.

Not sure how your rig compares to 360 performance. You might only be able to play it on medium-ish settings so maybe 360 could be better choice? I'm not positive. That's just my guess.

the pre-order is so tempting.. you get a bonus music cd that looks freakin awesome. But i guess i dont have to. I thought that this might be like mass effect, where the pc port doesnt really look that much better, and has more hardware issues on the pc. Which will make my decision easy. Unless it'll look much worse on xbox 360?

... I would guess the 360, but not sure, if its anything like crysis you'll want to get a 360 copy because of the cost to get a PC to a runable state.

If you had say a Radeon 4850(desktop) or better I definatly would say PC.

I don't have a 360, but I'd still go for the PC version. 10 bucks cheaper!

thanks for the input, i guess I'll take tianxia's advice and wait for the review. Hopefully the visuals on the xbox 360 will be good so i'll enjoy playing it on my 40 inch!

I'd take it for the PC, I always do...

If you don't mind medium settings it will run fine.

I'd go with the 360 version, mainly because when a game hits the 360 you don't have to worry about frame rate most of the time. Or grahpicial issues.. They are usualy tweaked to run max on the system.

Plus having a controller just flat out rocks, especially on a 40" lcd

Since your screen resolution is only 1280x800 I would guess that your computer would perform close to or better than the 360 version so imho its a matter of personal preference. I'm getting the PC version just because of the inevitable free mods on the comp and being able to use my nice keyboard and mouse instead of the 360 remote.

Your laptop is nice, but the 360 is nice as well. Unless you had a mid-range desktop or a higher end laptop, you'd be better off on the 360, quality wise.

Then again, I'd sacrifice some quality for the mods/keyboard play, like nofxman says above. I just can't imagine playing Fallout on anything other than a PC, sort of like Diablo.

My advice, rent it first when it comes out on the 360. If you're satisfied, stick with the console. If it doesn't feel right, try a "free" version on the PC (is that subtle enough?) and see if that works out better. Either way, it'll be a great game that you should definitely buy! :)

I'm sure it runs better on Xbox360 than on your (or my) XPS M1530. Furthermore, I want to play the game on my HDTV with DTS sound - comfortably on the couch :)

Don't base your decision on getting the PC version based on mods since the developers have not promised a release of a construction set for the game at all, although they mentioned they would like to. There's speculation that one may not be released at all to avoid stuff like nudity mods.

Im thinking the exact same thing. If my laptop could handle med to high fairly smooth at 1280x800 then id quite happily go for the PC version. Think I might have to 'aqquire' a version to make my decision. Really looking forward to this game!

The 360 can't even maintain a constant 30fps @ 720p, so I don't see it as being much superior in performance to a mid-range laptop with an 8600gt, especially the ddr3 variety.

Even my Vostro, with the ddr2 8600, ran Mass Effect better than the 360 version, and it looked better to boot. 360 version dipped into the teens.

It's all about optimization. For example; Gears of War and Bioshock run beautifully on Xbox360. Better than the PC versions on my M1530.

But I agree, Mass Effect runs better on my notebook than the console version.

I guess will just have to wait and see. If it runs really great on a 8600m GT DDR3 than I might even consider it.. just because of mouse/keyboard controls :)

Also: official mods, addons, patches, etc. Major reasons to go PC with Bethesda releases.

Addons and patches will also be available through Xbox Live. Oblivion had all the official expansions like Shivering Isles and Knight of the Nine.
