    Hello folks:

    Amazon has BF2 for $9.99... cheap... I know... :D

and Battlefield 2 The Complete Collection for $37.99

My question is, are the expansion sets and booster packs for BF2 necessary?
From the reviews I've read, they only add couple new maps and other stuff, and not all servers will carry these additional contents... so should I go for the bare bone or full collection?

    Thanks!
    Tom

Just BF2. A lot less people play the expansions. But really, it's an old game. Get something like COD4, newer, fresher, funner..er.

    Hey thanks Lithus,
too late, just ordered the Complete Collection...oops.. lol
    (cancel it?)

Just thought it's a good deal to have all the expansion sets...
So how will the game be balanced out with players that have expansions vs players don't?

    Thanks

Personally, I'd recommend the expansion version. If you can't afford it though don't be put out you can still patch up to play with others. You just wont have access to all maps and equipment/classes.

The BF2 expansions are like completely different games. If you play BF2, then you play with others who are playing BF2. If you play one of the expansions, then you only play with people who are playing that expansion.

Isn't it true, the last expansions (euro force especially) require you to activate your account online even just to play single player scenarios?
That's why I haven't gotten it, or bf2142. Someone please tell me I'm wrong. :(

They're almost pure multiplayer games. That's why you have to activate it. If you are a singleplayer kind of guy, don't get the BF series of games.

BF2:Special Forces expansion is worth getting, as if you just log in once with SF opened you will recieve 2 weapon unlocks instead of one :)

also, if you're a high-ish rank (gunnery sgt) or something like that, and you havent yet logged in with SF you get like 5-6 unlocks as soon as you log in. lol

I have tons of fun on single player, and to say it's not for a single player kind of guy is simply incorrect. I have the series (sans bf2142), but your response confirms my worries, so I guess I wont be getting it. :(
