Recently, gaming has been nothing but disappointment - either the storylines can't grab my attention, or the reality doesn't live up to the hype, or the games were just simply horrible. I'm thinking of going back to Runescape, it's something I can play for 20 minutes then put it down, and then come back a month later and keep playing... Yours thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea. I also advise you to try games made by less known companies. Two good examples are:
Trackmania Nations -- it's a FREE racing game, and there are hundreds of thousands of players online. It includes a very easy to use track creator and there are thousands of different tracks online.
Mount and Blade -- horseback fighting and RPG game. A battle with 200+ combatants mixing archers, knights, horse archers, infantry etc never gets old. Also castle sieges, quests, factions, managing your own castles etc. There's a HUGE amount of community mods online. Go to their website and download the demo (has a level cap, otherwise it's the full game). -
If you're going for something to play for 20 minutes and then put down, I don't know if runescape is the game for you. It requires a lot of time to level up the skills, and although you can play for 20 minutes at a time, I don't think you will have fun because the leveling process will be so slow. Also, to my knowledge, runescape got a lot junker over the years ever since that grand exchange was put in.

I don't know if RuneScape is worth playing. I've heard a lot of changes have been made which aren't good. I stopped playing RuneScape two years ago so I can't really say if it's worth playing again but a lot of friends of mine stopped playing because of the lame updates.

I stopped about four years ago, not really sure why, I think it's because I lost my dragon chainmail or something like that... But then I was just a kid and any small obstacle will get me turning back.
I tried to log in yesterday but couldn't remember my password, so I emailed CS and answered some questions... If they give me my password back I'll keep playing, if they don't then I won't. -
sorry, i just have to do this. I advise every person in the world to avoid playing runescape at all cost. even before all the nerfs the game was terrible. its a simple grindfest.

I used to be pretty into Runescape...me and some high school buds back in freshman year would get together and raise some hell in the Wilderness. I got up to level 70 or so, and bought full membership for a few months.
I just logged in a month ago or so for the hell of it, and damn. You can't even kill other players in the Wilderness now! -

no, its stupid in my opinion and there are better ways to spend your time...
there are also better ways to waste your time. -
lol Runescape is way stupid. expecially with all the fail changes Jagex made, Play Aion

You must be making really bad choices of games if you think the industry today looks bad in comparison to runescape.
-
Runescape was fun for ten minutes..I don't recommend it.

Seriously. Much better stuff out there. Drop 20-30 bucks on something like aion and enjoy it for a few 100 hours. . -
Invest $30 in Oblivion Deluxe Edition. You'll lose a few weeks to that even if you just go through the main storyline quest, let alone the hundreds of other minor quests and expansion packs.
-
I agree with Mastershroom and say that you should spend a bit of money and buy Oblivion. With the mods that are available, Oblivion can be a really fun and long-lasting game.

If i were you, I'd wait until 10th Nov. - Modern Warfare 2, if you are into FPS, that is.
And I have to agree, new games storylines are dull and mostly not original, with a few excpetions, maybe (Bioshock, and... well... uhm...?).
But going back (yes, that's a big step backwards) to Runescape? I would play WoW before RS, and we all know what reputation WoW gamers have... no offense. -
Its not a bad game to play, as long as you dont pay for it. I actually played it for a month while on vacation and reached level 70. All I had was my little EeePC 701 and that was the only game that would run on its wee screen. Havent played it since, but it was a nice distraction.
I agree with the post above; Im currently playing Oblivion with both expansions, and I paid only $20 for it. Its a great game from what Ive seen so far, and I dont think Ill be done with it any time soon. -
Runescape got progressively worse starting like 3 years ago or something. Now you can't kill people in the wilderness, see stuff people drop, the grand exchange butchered the idea of a free market, and they banned me by counting something I did as twice a smany points as it should hav been. Damn, I had party hat, level 113, everything from when they didn't butcher the game. And they even take banned people out of the high scores

Runescape used to be good?
I never understood why ppl bothered with that game. I honestly find that as fun as a job at mcdonalds. Oblivion is the game for you. It's pretty awesome. If you like runescape, your eyes will explode at the graphics and gameplay of Oblivion. But then again, if you like runescape because it's somewhat tied to some dear memories, then just forget the past and move on (Trust me, it's the way to go
)

You might also want to try Fallout 1 and 2 (not Fallout 3 !!). The story, ambience, everything is just perfect. My favourite RPG of all time along with Mount and Blade.

Runescape can't longer be classified as a RPG game. They removed al lthe things which was good about the game. Play Fallout!
Should I start Runescape again?
