If it's already posted, sorry, I did a search....feel free to delete.

But anyways, it's a simple question. I usually play games at around 800x600 (low, I know, but it suits me just fine). With this res would I be able to run at higher settings than a higher res?
Basically does it go like this : the lower the res, the higher the settings the GPU can pull off?
If I had a high end video card I wouldn't have this question but with a Radeon 4650 HD, wellp I can't expect to play them all at high settings and resoloutions.
I feel stupid for asking this, but its been in the back of my mind for awhile and if it is how it goes, I can change the settings in my games for some more eye candy due :D to my low res preferability

    Thanks!

You are exactly right. A lower resolution will put more load on the CPU, therefore allowing the GPU to pull off some more settings and better frames. Example - My 3650 manages Crysis on Medium at 1280 x 800, but at 840 x 480, I can run it at Very High.

With a card like yours I can't see why you would be playing at 800 x 600, as the 4650 can manage most games at 1680 x 1050 with some fairly good settings. If you play at your native resolution, (usually the maximum possible), then it will look a lot sharper and clearer.

I agree, a 4650 is not a bad card, it beats many of the chips/cards found in probably 75% of the laptops out there... you can run it in a higher res with high settings. at 800x600 you can probably max everything out w/ AA lol. Go up a few notches on resolution and experience some sharper gameplay guy!!

Thanks for the answers everyone! I must admit, I do underestimate the 4650 too much.

yea thats a pretty good card dude, you shouldnt have to lower the resolution down to 800x600, and if worse comes to worse dont feel guilty if you want to overclock it 30-80 percent :) never hurts

Definitely try playing games at your native resolution. I think you'll enjoy the incredible increase in sharpness more than maxed out image quality settings.
