    Hallo,

I got my eye on this HP DV9595ED laptop (since i can get it with a really good price atm from a contact of mine)

    CPU Core 2 Duo (T7300)
    CPU SPEED 2.00 GHz
    RAM 2048 MB 667 (PC2 - 5300) (max 4gig)
    HDD 320 GB (2x 160 GB 5400 rpm)
GPU NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M (its the GS version i think with 7xx MB shared ram)

I can get this for 900 Euro factory sealed with 2 year HP warranty etc...(in stores the cheapest price atm is 1350 Euro and up...)

And this is my desktop spec...

    CPU AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (running @ 2.00 Ghz)
    Ram 1024 MB DDR 400 (PC 3200)
    HDD 250 (7200 rpm)
    GPU ATI Radeon X850XT PE

Now from what i know of computer hardware (which is not much  ) this laptop beats my desktop in every way (except for the HDD part but i have read that the differance between a 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm HDD is not that big)...but only thing im note sure about tho...is the GPU how does the laptops GPU compeer to my desktops?

Is it better or worse?

Though the 8600GS is newer and DX10, the desktop card is still slightly better.

Platinum Editions, you cant beat em... the laptop card might win with newer gaming codes but the x850xt will beat you just by the bandwidth it has. Both are still good gaming machine.

or SM 3.0 for that matter.

Raw power the x850 wins, but the 8600GS is still a decent card.

    Is your setup a 939 socket, or 754. If its 939, grab a A64 X2 4400, and a used 7900GTX based card.
