Ok...well many people on this forum probably don't play this game but it lags really badly when u press the speed up button (in the game). It runs better on my old desktop (32MB ram Nvidia FX 5xxx I think) The same with Rollercoaster tycoon 3...anybody know what the problem is?

Are you using Vista? For some odd reason I think Vista may be the issue.

I have played the sims 2 on vista with no problems & high frame rates.
Update your drivers it will probably fix your issues!

Make sure powermizer isn't on? Also is the Sims 2 happy with dual core?

Go to the nvidia control panel (right click on the desktop and you can open it from that menu), go to mobile and then pwoermizer settings and turn it off.

Some games get confused by dual core cpus. I'd google Sims 2 and dual core to see if it has any issues. It should be ok, but if that is the problem you can use a program called imagecfg (some knowlege of DOS is needed) to set it to run on one core only. I'd imagine the sims 2 should be ok though.
