Hello
I am using the Vista32 163.44 drivers right now, and Sims2 still crashes them off and on (not as frequent as the older drivers though).
I do think the AA is a culprit, I will try to play with none or less AA tonight and see if it makes a difference.
Also, I am thinking of trying it in XP Compability mode.
Is there anyone that has the same problem (aka the driver stops responding and vista restarts it, you get that short break and loading time and then you are back, and when you quit the game you have the warning on the desktop) with Sims 2 and 8600 GT? Any recommended drivers? Will running it in Compability mode work better?

Dude oh my god how did you even get it to use AA/Smooth Edges? I have the same laptop as you but the 2ghz processor. Also how in the hell did you get the new drivers on there? I thought they werent compatible with the notebook 8600m gt version? I get an error everytime I try and install them. I tried changing the AA through the nvidia control panel but it gives me lag when I do that dude if you can help me with this then I couldnt thank you more lol!

Well you have to download both the driver, and the Inf file separately, and after extracting the driver copy the Inf file over the old one.
Then you need to uninstall the old driver, restart, run Setup.exe for the new driver, restart... Done.
Have you set the power options to High Performance? It seems the AA gets disabled when you are running in any other mode. -

There's an entire guide to installing drivers in the "***PLEASE READ***" sticky at the top of the forum . . .
