I am wondering does it affect the graphics performance if the laptop only is using single channel memory as the frame buffer from the dGPU has to be coped to the iGPU?

For the most part no. Some games are a bit sensitive to it, but even then performance hit is not all that substantial. There's been some benchmark results reported, but I don't have them handy at the moment.

I've read it just might have a bit difference in certain games/workloads but don't have the links for these atm. The price for dual channel memory isn't that high, i'd say install 2 Ram sticks just to be shure!

Dual Channel makes quite a difference in new games like BF4 etc.. I remember a test being done with Dual Channel and Single Channel RAM in Sager NP8651 and there was like a 5-10FPS difference in BF4 between the 2... With dual being more...

If the game is bf4 it might have something to do with the fact that this game seems to utilize cpu better than most games and the dual memory helps more with cpu's task and not some much the gpu's similar one. But it helps in gaming, so go for dual channel. Most likely bf4 isn't the only game which is affected.

There were like 3-5 high end games... Dying Light was one of them too.. I can't remember any more of the names but rest assured, dual channel definetly helps even with 2 non matching sticks..
