Wow... it's happened... I'll be paying for Skyrim again!
EE edition owners will get an "upgrade option" for whatever that's worth.

Right?! I mean I have to do another playthrough now... just when I said like YESTERDAY I was done replaying Bethesda RPGs...
I mean there's FISHING IN IT.. have to do it. I just need to figure out what wacky build I'm going to do this time, and try to promise myself I'm not going to just fall into sneak attacking all the time.Porter likes this. -

Do you think it will require a Bethesda account?
Part of me think it does, but a little of me doesn't because the base game doesn't.hfm likes this. -

Well wouldn't be able to pay it straight away, BF2042 and COD comes first after I paid my debt off from new laptop.

I've played too much of this and have been burned out to play again.
-
Yeah every few years I get the skyrim nostalgia and install but idk after a couple days of playing I'm just totally bored, played it a ton back when. I get it if you are a modder and have the equipment to handle all that though. It's freaking awesome that a game that old is still going strong and versatile, bugs and all love that about old bethesda games.
-
I don't really care I'll buy it.
Along with this there's an update (free) to the original Quake somewhat modernizing* it as well as including the original expansions plus two new episodes created by Machine Games. Time to replay Quake!
* I think it's using the Kex engine by Nightdive not the Quake engine. Have to admit they did a damn good job, I can't tell the difference, though tbh I haven't played it in forever and it's a rather simple game technologically by today's standards. -

Todd, you did it again!
When I thought we ran out Skyrim re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-releases, you still had one in you!hfm likes this. -
This makes me want to play Skyrim now. I don't think there is an inch of the map I didn't cover when it first came out.

I guess I was setting my hopes too high that this 500+ pieces of Creation Club content was all going to be free with the Anniversary Edition. That was really the only reason I'd plunk the money down. Though, I have bought zero Creation Club content... so .. maybe it'll still be worth it for what does come with it. I mean lets be real I'm going to buy it regardless..
But.. the messaging is somewhat confusing.. they say in one breath it "includes" this 500+ peices of content. But then they start naming specificities... weird way to message it.Last edited: Aug 21, 2021Porter likes this. -
Yeah agreed. I saw it as it comes with the 500 content. But being honest, I will likely get it even if it doesn't come with it because I've spent so many hours on it that I love the game and how the systems work. I would enjoy starting over one last time...
-
I am more pumped than I should be lol. I must play games differently than others do. After many hundreds of hours there are tons and tons of quests I've never done, locations I've never been to, and types of characters I've never played. And 90% of that was played unmoded as I got tired of mods breaking or support ending, whatever, I just play vanilla and am happier for it.

I only used texture/model enhancement mods, SkyUI and the unofficial patch. I didn't really use any mods that added things that weren't vanilla, just some fidelity tweaks. TBH the EE version looks good enough as-is. I am also pretty pumped to play with all these new items officially added in.
-
I always get a nice house with the works; trainers included. I've got many hours in and at this point it's about theory crafting characters; I don't really play the game any more.

$20, excellent. That seems fair, thought it was going to be more for sure.

I bet it will still required an unofficial patch to fix some features
-
Probably. Funny thing is I don't think I've ever come across a bug in any of the Skyrim releases as much as they're panned for bug count. Stands to reason though there's so much to keep track of and so many branching quests that could break when 3 different seeming unrelated things coalesce into one scenario.
If you've ever heard the Arkane peeps talk about coding and designing the elevator in Prey.
(around 13:00).. the whole interview is great though..

Damn it, Todd, you did it again! A re-re-re-re-re-release of Skyrim! Those Rockstar bois better up their game with GTA V!
The last one was given out for free (at least if you previously had LE or bought all addons), so I will give it a pass this time.
I had plenty. From quests being stuck (had to use console command to progress further), to NPCs bugging out, sound issues, ragdolls, some weird thing when you try to click on dialogue option with mouse but it chooses a different one, being catapulted across half of the map when trying to pick up an item, etc. - this game is sure something.hfm likes this. -
Oh yeah the sound issues have happened to me, that plagued all the ES games really. Skyrim did better at it though. I think it was just always dialog levels being weird depending on your position or stereo sounding reversed. I have also probably had to fix a quest with the console and am just blocking it out haha. I don't recall having to do it in my more recent playthroughs tho.

I think Oblivion and Fallout 3 were the buggiest (and New Vegas, but it was done by Obsidian). Maybe it was a particular version of engine, IDK.
Skyrim did tune down on the... ehem... "features", but still had plenty of them.
Did you ran an unnoficial patch during your recent playtroughs? -
Its been so long since I played I don't remember problems. Maybe an arrow to the knee.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Or arrow to the head
I had plenty of instances of shooting enemy NPCs in the head and them not dying. Sometimes I couldn't one hit kill with a headshot an NPC while being a low level archer. So I shoot at NPC, it somehow survives, goes immediately into agro mode and starts looking for perpetrator, all this with an arrow in the head. While NPC looks for me I hide. After some time agroed NPC gives up looking for a person who shot it in the head and goes "must have been a wind."
Excuse me, WHAT?!? "Must have been a wind"?!? YOU HAVE A FREAKIN' ARROW STICKING FROM YOUR HEAD. HOW THE HELL DID WIND DO THAT?!?
Although to be fair the NPCs in the game weren't too bright from the start, I do suppose an arrow to the head didn't do any good as well... -
I own Special Edition so Anniversary Edition will upgrade my Special Edition .. is that correct? So I should go ahead and install SE?
-
I'm banking on it being a completely separate install from SE just a discount if you own SE. It's not in the Steam store yet, impossible to confirm.
I think I might have used the "Unofficial" patch that was available in the creation club/mods. Can't recall but probably did. I tend not to use very many mods, just visual upgrades that don't break the vanilla concept. I guess with AE we're getting a new bar for "vanilla".killkenny1 and Atma like this. -
It sounds like it can be an update for SE instead of separate. "Players who already own Skyrim Special Edition may choose to purchase just the Anniversary Upgrade, which includes all the Creation Club creation content mentioned above in one convenient, high-value bundle." https://elderscrolls.bethesda.net/en/article/5esC91g2ABY1jQ97uq39zW/skyrim-anniversary-edition-faq

New Anniversary Edition trailer. I'm installing Special Edition now. Hopefully it will just be an upgrade. Although SE is just 12.7 GB. Seems very tiny these days.

I'm installing as well as it seems by all indication it's just an in place upgrade... only 12G I guess no harm if I just have to uninstall.
