Hey everyone, I want to buy a new gaming laptop and I've been itching to get back into Skyrim. I keep hearing about ENBs and how amazing they make the game look. That being said, I want to get a gaming laptop that can handle ENBs in skyrim at decent settings playing at a good framerate. I just wanted to get some opinions on what kind of brands or laptop specs would handle that. I want to try and stay under $1400 but if I need to go over a couple hundred its fine if it'll make a difference in playing skyrim at high quality with ENBs! So far I've been hearing a lot about sager clevo's quality and I have specifically been looking at the Sager NP8278 and for about $200 less the NP8268 special edition(my only hesitation is the 15" screen). Any suggestions would help greatly! And I'm not only looking for Sagers, any other brands/suggestions you have please let me know!

    Thanks,
    Mitch

Some of the higher end ENB packages recommend a desktop 670 or 760 with a i5 or higher for 1080p play.

This means you are looking for 680m/775m/870m level of GPU with an i7. (those GPUs and above will have the hardware and with some tweaks and proper cooling you should be able to make it work)

Keep in mind that you could always turn off some of the bigger resource hogs and make it look pretty decent and keep frame rate with less hardware.

No one can really give you a hard value on what will definitely work as there are so many mods and packages.

    I recommend the 860M. It's a great card for a great price.

hey mitch i had the same situation i spend a little more money to get me the Asus 750 JZ

Iam in love with a modded skyrim version :D i got about 30-40 Graphic mods (some are really performance hungry like fire improvement mods) and i went for the realvision enb i get 30-45 fps and it feels really fluent and i looks just awesome.
I dont know much about the 860m but i just wanted to let you know what you can expect with the 880m

Have a look. A really nice video I did a while back. Check out the bigger tree's mod too.

    Gotta love Skyrim mods :D

I play Skyrim modded with both ENB and multiple followers. It brings my 780 Ti desktop down to its knees when running at max settings and 1920x1080 resolution. Since Skyrim is a 32-bit game it has a 3.1GB RAM limit. If I disable either ENB or have only one follower it runs smooth however. ENB enabled with multiple followers will jack up my FPS big time to a point that it's unplayable.

Other thoughts: Game Debate says that dual GTX 880M's in SLI compares equally to my single GTX 780 Ti.

Bringing a 780Ti to its knees means you have massively overloaded your ENB. :)
670 or 760 should be more than good enough to make it look very pretty. (environment and character/npc models)

With some pruning you should be able to get even lesser hardware to look decent.
Some of the mods are not desirable really anyway. (I don't want the women wearing metal bikinis thanks.)
The realistic lighting one is taxing but you can turn it down, the lash vegetation one should be configurable (or just use one that does more with less).

The best realistic grass mods are immensely taxing.

The 860M definitely won't cut it.

I think for all the Skyrim mods definitely a high end mobile GPU. One of the few games that will consume 3GB+ vRAM and need the GPU power to boot. 860m will be a bit underpowered if you want all the details. 870m is a great "bang for buck" card, but if you can find a 775m, that would be a slightly better option.

Personally, I wouldn't settle for less than an 880M. My two cents.

I followed the STEP guide pretty close and used 1K textures and then installed RealVision ENB. But as soon as a added multiple follower mods afterwards, my FPS suffered. It could be that the follower mods I'm using are very taxing. I should try just using the vanilla followers, not adding followers created by mod authors.
