I've been having trouble figuring out how to assign items and spells to numbers 1-0. Is that possible for Skyrim on the PC?

    Open the inventory.
    Highlight the item.
    Press F to Favorite.
    Exit Inventory to gameplay.
Press, I believe, Q to open the favorite's list.
Highlight an item, press a number from 1-0.
That item will then have that number preceding it in the favorite's list "1. Steel Sword: 2. Elven Bow". Pressing 1 will arm the Steel Sword, 2 will arm the Elven bow.
If you are playing a dual wielding warrior you will only need to set a number to the weapon in the right arm. When you press it, the second weapon should automatically arm to your left arm assuming you last had the primary weapon in a dual wield.

First add the item or spell/power to your favorites. Then bring up your favorites list, highlight the item with the mouse pointer and press the particular that you want to hotkey. Done

"Adding them to my favorites" doesn't seem to work.

I'm in the menu. I hover over the item I want with my mouse. I click F but nothing really happens or appears to confirm that it's now one of my favorites. And when I go out to the game I try and press Q to get my list of favorites, but when I press Q nothing happens.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Has anybody else had trouble doing this? I can't seem to get the Q (Favorites) menu to pop up during the game. Don't understand why...

did you remap some of your keys?

I use a NumPad and I had to use the numpad driver software to remap the "F" and "Q" keys.
