Hey all, I hope someone can help me out here. I have a new MSI GT73VR Titan with the 1070 card. I've read of plenty of problems with the Skyrim game engine itself going into some kind of crazy physics mode if the screen refresh/fps goes over 60. So advice was to set your refresh rate on the monitor to 60 if you have a 120hz screen.

My issue is that when I go into the Nvidia control panel, there is no option to lower refresh rate. Only 120hz for every display option. Surely you can lower the refresh rate, right? Any pointers that I may be missing? Within the settings menu in Windows 10, the 120hz is also the only option I see. I'd be grateful for any help. Thanks!

There's no option for a custom resolution? Under the change resolution section in the control panel.

    I'll be darned. :biglaugh:

There's egg on my face. I didn't see that option...or it didn't click in my brain that I could do that. I owe you a drink. Thank you!

Or you can limit to 60 FPS, or force VSync (half refresh), etc.

Skyrim itself is limited to 60Hz, and you have to manually lift the cap yourself, to get around it.

And it isn't without its issues with physics.

Or install enough mods to ensure you drop under 60 fps ;) I cannot maintain more than 30 fps with 200 mods on old skyrim at 4k resolution on a GTX 980M. I doubt it will be much different with the remaster, despite any performance improvements.

Yeah, I installed the new edition, crashed immediately when the game started twice, the third time I made it to the character creation screen for a few minutes and it crashed again. So I stopped for the night. Yesterday, I downloaded the new driver for Nvidia, and it ran fine through the character creation screen but I don't want to start a new game until more mods are available and I'm still working on a Dragon Age: Inquisition playthrough, anyway.
