Ok, well for christmas, I got skyrim. But, I got it for XBOX... so, I was wondering how much better it is for PC. Any real advantages besides graphics? I don't even think I can max it out anyway, but I'm sure it will look better than on XBOX. Any real advantages over having it for PC? Are there not enough buttons on a controller and is it weird? I'd get it for PC, but my dad says he might want to play it and he wouldn't ever see it again if I had it for PC. What do you guys think I should do, because I can't decide myself..

PC for sure. It's on sale for the next two hours, so hurry up! If you're talking about the laptop in your signature, it will have no trouble running Skyrim on maximum settings.

As whitrzac mentioned, Bethesda games on PC have an enormous tradition of modding, and some mods have already been popping up before the official Creation Kit has even been released.

PC. You get bug fixes sooner, mods are possible, etc. If you really like the whole console thing just buy a USB gaming controller.

Definitely get it for PC, and you can max it with a little tweak at the settings or OC

Definitely get it for console. That way you will always play 100% pure Skyrim as envisioned by Bethesda.

Skyrim is god awful in vanilla. Once you equip your heavy armor and one weapon you'll have enough left over weight space to carry one loaf of bread and 1-2 potions. You'll spend half your time in dungeons and caves deciding which single item is worth looting, because you only have room for 1! Then, you'll spend most your time fast traveling back to your house and vendors because you need to sell or store your single piece of looted gear before you move onto the next quest.

Play a race that has a Heavy Armor bonus. Right now I'm playing an Imperial (automatic +5 or +10 to Heavy Armor, I forget which), and I'm wearing full Daedric armor and I'm carrying a full set of Ebony as well as several weapons, ores, ingots and dragon bones that weigh 15 each.

I was using a form of sarcasm to explain a game mechanic which I find awful and annoying. Yes, you can blow talent points and skill points in order to "fix" this flawed mechanic. Before mods, I found my experience to be completely ruined by the entire inventory/weight management. Which brings me back on topic: the beauty of mods is that it allows you to personalize your game for the best experience.

Yeah exactly - you don't like something? Tweak it to how you like it...

just wondering, has anyone noticed a horseback warfare mod? It sucked how when on horseback you had to painfully dismount to engage any enemies, often resulting in the death of your horse :(

It also made me wonder why there are no spears in the game :D

Just kick around a corpse for storage, it's what I did in Fallout 3 and I doubt they fixed it for Skyrim. Still haven't got to play it D:

So troubling. I have a steam gift Skyrim, not sure If I want to play it or sell it. I can't play right now until my malibal arrives. I do want to try it out. Not sure if I'll even like it. Didn't like Dragon Age, haven't tried Mass Effect or Fall Out or any of those games. My games have all been blizzard games and FPS games from Valve.

I don't really like having too much things to do. I want rules, and goals to shoot for so I can feel I finished a game. Mods make it even worse for me. I don't like having so much customize ability that I can't even choose what I want or don't want. That whole experience is just not pleasurable to me.

Like, Torchlight. I played it because I like the Diablo series, but the mods really just overwhelm me. I tried to stick to vanilla, but then I want to become strong so I can get a mod that makes mobs drop good stuff. Then I want that potion to reset skills and what not... Then there are classes people can make. It's just too much stuff!

Ouch. Now that's damning with praise.

Open world games like Skyrim do have a main quest, but despite Skyrim's many faults a lack of things to do is definitely not one of them. It's anything but linear. You'll probably have much more fun with something like Mass Effect 2 (unless you happen to dislike the action RPG genre as a whole).
