    The biggest leap...Mods.

Most of the time, The TE:S Thread here talks about mods they use.

Also, Performance. I don't know if they fixed this yet, but Skyrim stutters horrendously the further you progress.

Is that for PS3? I wasn't talking about PC, if I misunderstood.

Bethesda did improve performance on the PS3 since before the patch it relied heavily on the HDD for cache.
But consoles will still underperform in Skyrim when compared to newish PCs.

Regardless of any performance issues stemming from the PS3's very limited RAM and graphic memory -

Regardless of the obvious benefit of being able to play the game in 1080p on a PC with AA, AF, high quality shadows, etc. -

The main reason to get Skyrim on PC is because there are thousands of free mods available, including already many thousands of hours of brand new quest content created by some talented mod authors, and many different ways to completely customize and enhance your gameplay experience.

And the really good mods have not even been released yet, because it takes six months to a year to produce a massive mod with lots of voice acting, etc. For example, the teams who did Andoran and Nehrim are hard at work on some enormous total conversion mods that will each provide 60-100 hours of new content.

The easiest way to do it is to start browsing through Steam workshop, find some mods you like, subscribe and then the next time you launch Skyrim it will download the latest versions of those mods automatically.

As for suggestions, it really depends on what you like and what you are looking for.

Personally, the mods I've enjoyed the most are

    Live Another Life
    Frostfall
    Moonpath to Elseweyr
    Imp's More Complex Needs
    Deadly Dragons
    Real Wildlife
    Throwing Weapons
    Deployable Traps
    Radiance
    Apocalypse Spell Package
    Empowered Magic
    Master the Time and Space

The mods are an excellent reason to play on the PC. That and I'm not very good at using controllers for complex game play. That said, the PC version has some obvious hallmarks of a quick console conversion, especially with the controls for inventory and containers.

Regarding mods, I almost exclusively use ones that improve the graphics and immersion of the game plus a few convenience mods (Bandoliers ftw). I generally avoid anything that truly effects core game play unless I'm playing through a second time.
