Good Afternoon All,
I've been playing Crysis for a few days now, all the while tweaking and adjusting the graphics to acquire the best performance. However, I'm noticing that during gameplay, usually after the first 5 or 10 minutes, the game will go from 25-35 FPS to around 5-7 for a short period of time (roughly 20 seconds maybe?). As you can all probably imagine, it gets super annoying when you get raped because of a FPS drop.![]()
So far I've only noticed this drop off while in single player mode. Multiplayer has been working pretty well..
Of course the first solution that comes to mind is that the GPU is overheating and throttling down to compensate. So I cleaned the internal compartments and fans very thoroughly with canned air. Still, when in single player I experience this FPS drop off.![]()
Any ideas?
Also, on a similar note. I've been trying to play with customized settings using a "system.cfg" file to be automatically run when the game boots up. My question is how can I tell that my customized settings are in fact being implemented in the game? Example: r_motionblur = 0

Welcome to the club, so far only me and you have this problem, still looking for a fix
I haven't even done any editing to it, its not even a ram leak or oveheating thing..if I stay at one place after loading the game the fps is high, stay there without doing anything for a couple of min and fps drops down to single digits, then catches up again.
I did have this problem before in some other games, but it got solved from updating drivers or downdating them. -
Well, I happen to be in the same boat as you (similar parts wise) and I get a massive slow down, randomly, until I close the game and re open it, it doesn't go away.
My bet is that it's game side, so just wait for the patch, It's coming in 2-5 days. -

This game is just horribly optimized, it even stutters on my desktop. I say wait for the patch.
Have you checked your temperatures while playing? You should do that anyway. See my suggestions in this thread:

true that chaz, and yea temps are all fine, the thing is even at low settings at 800x600 I still get the same problem, only difference this time round is starting fps is much higher but it still undergoes a 50% drop

Chaz,
I typically use RivaTuner to moniter my temperatures..I haven't seen any wild numbers for temp or anything so far. Sometimes I question the accuracy of RivaTuner's temperature monitering though..
Anywho, are you able to elaborate any on the second half of my post? The part regarding tweaks and editing outside of the game in the system.cfg.
Thanks bud,

I'm having exactly the same issue - I really can't figure this out. Has anyone has any luck with it yet?
